Why you should pick Corsica for your next Family Holiday in a Villa!
During the first week of the Summer holidays in July we spent a week in a family friendly villa in Corsica with Simpson Travel. Â It was an absolutely glorious week jam packed week with swimming, beaches, food and wine and a little adventure thrown in too.
So here are 10 Reasons why you should book a Family Friendly Villa Holiday in Corsica next year.
1. Â Flight time is less than 2 hours!
We flew early on a Sunday morning from Heathrow into Figari, an airport to the South of Corsica, and we were in Corsica in less than 2 hours! It was easy and quick with a fabulous relaxed flight with British Airways. Â When you are travelling with kids an easy flight of a really short duration is always a win.
2. Â Weather
The average summer weather temperature is usually a balmy 25 degrees which is great for kids, not too hot and not too cold. Â We experienced some windy days at the beginning of the week but save for blowing up my dress when ideally it wouldn’t have done, this just meant that the kids stayed a little cooler on the beach and didn’t complain too much when we were wandering around exploring. Â There is always ice cream to cool you down anyway!
3. Â Activities Galore
If you don’t just fancy a week lying by the pool or the beach then Corsica is the perfect choice. Whilst we were there we saw people cycling and hiking everywhere. My girls had only just learnt to cycle so this wasn’t an option for us this time but will be in the future. We did however try out the pedalos with slides, the horse riding and even climbing in spectacular surroundings.
4. Beautiful Marinas
There are spectaculars marinas all over this island. During our glorious seven days we spent time in Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio both of which we loved but there are plenty more to choose from and explore.
5. Simply Stunning Villas
When you drive around the Island it’s difficult to see all the stunning villas that are available as they tend to be set back away from the roads and into the hills. You can see why when you get there though as the views from the villas are simply spectacular. Â We adored all the swimming pool fun at Villa Laetitia but there are many many more to choose from.
6. Wine
I couldn’t write a top ten of reasons to book a Family Friendly Villa Holiday in Corsica without mentioning the Rosé wine.  Whilst my husband wouldn’t profess to being a Rosé fan usually, there was something pretty special about the Rosé in Corsica, and if you want particular recommendations, and you’ve travelled with Simpson Travel like us, then just ask your rep as she is a wine expert!
7. Beaches
Miles and miles of quiet and beautiful beaches. Â Whilst some may have pebble beaches, others enjoy beautiful fine sand with pine forests to the back for some lunchtime shade.
8. Spectacular Lakes and Rivers
Taking a drive up into the hills and finding lakes and rivers for a swim was an unexpected surprise. The girls absolutely loved swimming in the rivers and paddling in the lakes. Quieter even than the beaches and just something that little bit different.
9. French Italian Fusion
A French Island so close to Italy brings with it possibly the best of both countries cuisine. Â Whilst wild boar and wonderful cheeses definitely grace the menus, for families the food and the restaurants seem a lot less formal than in France with a heavy Italian influence of pizza and pasta restaurants for example. There is also the ever present crepes for which the French are famous for and the islands very special honey makes for some pretty special desserts and happy children.
10. Crystal Blue
The sea and the sky just has a spectacular blue colour to it don’t you think! You can just spend hours gazing at it!
If my 10 Reasons to Book a Family Friendly Villa Holiday in Corsica haven’t quite persuaded you then I think this video might!  It was a pretty special trip!

My friend went to Corsica when we were 8 or 9 and I remember the villa company sent her a little pack to prepare before she went. It had a hand drawn map in, and photos of what it would be like. I always wanted to go since then because I did most of her prep pack with her. Now I’ve seen your photos I *really* want to go!
