Here are our 15 Reasons to Visit Los Angeles with Kids!
*This is a post created in collaboration with Luxury Retreats.
When I think of Los Angeles I imagine Hollywood and fabulous people, I think of driving in in an open top convertible having driven down the Pacific Coast Highway, I imagine Beverley Hills and Rodeo Drive and all the fabulous things to do in Los Angeles before we had kids. However now the budget is slightly higher than it once was, and now we have kids to entertain – what are the reasons to visit and where could you stay!
Having experienced some of the shall we say less luxurious options LA has on offer in the past, this time I would focus on renting one of the many luxury Los Angeles Rental Homes around. The picture above is the view from Briarcrest in Beverley Hills and has to be one of the most spectacular views I’ve seen. However I could also be tempted (and so would the kids) to stay this close to Redondo beach in seven bedrooms of luxury!
Disneyland
Yes it’s the obvious one but really if you are heading to Los Angeles with the Kids you need to dedicate at least a day to Disneyland and they will love you for it. It’s not called the Happiest Place on Earth for no reason and you can have soooo much fun!

A different day to Disney there is no doubt and perhaps one for kids that are slightly older, but you can’t beat immersing yourself in the adventures of Harry Potter™ at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.
Depending on the time of year you travel, you’ll find something different at Descanso Gardens. In October it’s a light spectacular, an enchanted forest. At other times of the year you can watch family friendly concerts or listen to daily stories, but mainly its a place to let the kids roam free in nature.

Based in Goldwater Canyon Park in the mountains, TreePeople offers nature trails and teaches kids how to be environmentally aware. It’s free to get in but there is a cost for the special events they run year round.
Right in downtime Hollywood, there is something particularly special about watching a film at El Capitan Theatre. It’s a throwback to cinemas of old, being first opened in 1926. Families love the extra touches such as streamers and confetti falling from the ceiling.
To head down to Venice beach for a beautiful sunset, to watch the world go by and to watch some amazing yoga – it’s what everyone in LA does right!?!
Visit Echo Lake park in central Los Angles for walking, boating, hiking and general people watching. One of the most fun things to do is to rent a pedalo and while away a few hours.

Whilst there is undoubtedly some Art in this Museum that isn’t a firm favourite with children, the museum is one of the best in the area. There is free membership for Under 17’s, a childrens gallery and an opportunity to burn off some wiggly energy in LACMA’s sculpture gardens and park spaces.
Grand Park is Los Angeles County’s newest park located in Downtown Los Angeles and powered by The Music Center. It’s 12 acres of magnificence and holds a variety of spectacular events through the year. There are pink benches, a splashpool and a fun playground too!
I think this image of The Last Bookstore shows why kids would love a trip here as well as the adults. It’s a tunnel of books what’s not to love! It’s also a 22,000 square feet labyrinthine of books and records, with space for literary, musical and theatrical events. Keep your eye out for those.
A vast museum full to the brim with nearly 35 million specimens and artifacts that covers 4.5 billion years of history. They also do lots of fun special events like this fossil hunt where your 6-9 year-old can become a Junior Paleontologist. Free with paid admission. Mine would LOVE to do this.
At the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium you can discover what Heal the Bay’s work is all about: it’s about protecting the animals that call the Bay home. Over 100 local species on exhibit, and plenty of hands-on activities for the kids.
Tomorrow we’re hosting our monthly Nothin’ But Sand cleanup at Dockweiler Beach near Tower 54, from 10am-noon. This is a great opportunity for families, groups and individuals to get together with hundreds of other ocean lovers & protect what you love️ See you on the sand!
Named one of the “Best Cool Exhibits to See With Your Kids” by CBS Los Angeles and one of 100 Things to Do in Los Angeles Before You’re 10 by the Red Tricycle. It’s an enormous ship of discovery including treasure hunts and entertaining tours.
When a museum tells you to bring spare clothes for the kids you know you are in for a treat. “Water, mud, and sand are elements of Kidspace. Please bring footwear appropriate for getting messy, a towel and a change of clothes for children who may want to enjoy the water, mud or sand exhibits.” Sounds awesome doesn’t it!
There are many things to love about Griffith Park but what comes up time and time again is the pony rides whilst Mum and Dad watch with a coffee and a churro. Sounds good to me.

Besides these places, the Long Beach aquarium is a lot of fun, and there are great whale watches. My kids really enjoy when being there.
Thank you so much for suggesting these places! My family and I are going on our flight there tomorrow, and we’re really excited! Hopefully we get a chance to visit some of these places!
