We had such amazing years in 2017 and 2016, just click on the years to see those posts, that it’s incredible to think that our travel can keep on developing, but here is our 2018 Travel Bucket List.
The beauty of travel is that you will always have a different experience, even if you choose to return to the same place; and just because you’ve been somewhere quite remarkable like Rwanda earlier in the year, it doesn’t make a trip to Corsica or France any less so. You simply make different memories and take different things from each trip.
So in 2018 there are a few things we would love to do:
More lodge breaks in the UK, weekend breaks that aren’t too far away from us on the Wirral. We are in the Peaks as I type this at Sandybrook Country Park and I’ve just hopped out of the hot tub. There is something about a hot tub that makes me feel like I’m really getting away from it all.
We would love to return to Portugal at February Half Term, we’ve had some lovely trips the last few years to Quinta, Sagres, Lisbon and Cascais and this time we are going to try Porto.
We would love to explore somewhere in Asia over Easter. I have my eye on Vietnam, Burma and Japan, but to be honest after the success of Rwanda last year my eyes are open and I am willing to try most things!
We had a wonderful holiday in Turkey a couple of years ago with Mark Warner just outside Bodrum, they don’t run the resort anymore but I am really excited to head back to Kalkan with Simpson Travel in May – The Kalkan Regency looks incredible.
Summer is still uncertain but I’m hoping to take a repeat trip to Brittany and explore more of this beautiful area. I’d also love to take the kids to Italy or Spain as that’s on their bucket list and as they get older their choices factor more and more into our decisions.
Tuscany, Madrid, Puglia and San Sebastian are all up at the top of my list. Hong Kong has also moved up to the top of my list having read this post
TRAVEL IN HONG KONG WITH YOUR FAMILY – ALL THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
As we move into Autumn and Winter I’m not sure how we can top this years trips to Wales, Oman, Morzine and Lapland but we will have to try. I’d like to take the girls skiing again so that’s on the list and a cheeky trip to some of the Christmas markets in perhaps Germany, Austria or Switzerland would be fab.
I’d also like to fit a cruise in somewhere. If you haven’t already seen it I am writing a new blog Cruising with Kids – do pop over and have a look! Perhaps given the year we already have planned, a Winter cruise to the Norwegian Fjords would suit or a trip somewhere else in the Baltic!
What do you think to the bucket list? Too adventurous??? Not enough? About right? Inspired you at all…..
I’m pretty excited for 2018 I have to say!
Let’s do a ladies trip to Switzerland in December!! I’d love to return but can’t trust the kids to behave.
yes yes yes!!!
Some really tempting ideas – a few similar ones bubbling around in my brain as well! And glad the post inspired you to share your ideas as well, I love seeing where people are thinking of going…not least because I’m still trying to work out February half term!
We had the most wonderful holiday in Portugal last year, it is fantastic for families! I cannot wait to return, though I am looking into taking a few weekend breaks away in the UK too – I am also based in the North West and there are some gorgeous places locally that I need to explore! Sim x
It’s amazing what you crammed into last year and after you’ve done Rwanda I think anywhere is possible for you – would love to see you trying Asia, I can live vicariously through you 🙂 xx
I am still in awe that you had such a fantastic trip to Rwanda last year! I’m excited to see where your travels take you this year 🙂 x
Oh thank you so much
