The final day of the holidays. It’s been a different kind of summer this year. It’s passed slowly rather than flown by and we’ve kept it simple rather than busy. There have been arguments and fun times, tears and laughter. We’ve been home a lot. It’s been noisy and silly and crazy, I’ve barely got any work done and the house looks like a bomb has hit it. There have been LOTS of cuddles. Baking, long walks in the sunshine, playing in the garden, board games and movies. An adventure in Italy, visits from friends and family, a day trip to Harry Potter World and plans made for next year’s explorations. And now it’s all over. We have one day left (which will mostly be filled with ironing and naming uniform, packing bags and PE kits and locating all the stationary that is currently dotted around the house!). And then they’ll be gone, swallowed up by school and new routines and heaps of learning and catching up with friends and a whole important area of their lives that I don’t get to be a part of. I feel incredibly grateful that I am able to spend so much time with my girls during the holidays (even with the tough days and the endless balancing act of keeping on top of work whilst they’re home). I hope they look back on their childhood when they’re older and remember slow and simple summers like this one with fondness and joy. . . . . . #summerhols #expressionsofmotherhood #honestmotherhood

4. One Tiny Leap

Tomorrow is the first day of our Summer holiday and were off to Lisbon! Right now I’m trying to get organised but am getting giddy just thinking of the pastries, seafood and super cold beer I’ll be tucking into in 24 hours☀️ It won’t come too soon either after a super busy year for both of us this boy is so ready for a break! It’ll also be a special holiday as we haven’t seen my family for a year and just cannot wait to splash a big kiss on my little nephews faces 💛 What are you summer plans? Anyone in or around Lisbon? . . . . . . #sagres #martinhal #portugal #mytinyatlas #traveldeeper #suitcasemagazine #lonelyplanet #abmlifeisbeautiful #abmtravelbug #passionpassport #instatravel #bbctravel #guardiantravelsnaps #travelstoke #passportready #beautifuldestinations #travelmore #travelnow #beautifulplacesonearth #livetravelchannel #travelphotography #tbin #ukftb #ftb100 #travelblogger #familytravelblogger #lpkids #bringthekids #getoutdoors

Brightening up your Monday with some colour. Loved our tour around the Venetian islands last month. Could have quite happily spent more time here, it’s so pretty! POD was in a local parade and celebrations to mark the end of the Great War over the weekend which was lovely. Our bike ride in the forest less successful, largely due to the family trail being hilly with a fair amount of gravel in places. Added to which her bike chain came off about 12 times! She really needs a new bike so if you have any recommendations (she’s 7), let me know.

So proud of my little team of sailors! We’ve had an unforgettable time traveling the Baltic, I can’t believe it’s almost over. a We’re on our final leg through the inner Stockholm Archipelago in the next few days and then arrive to Uppsala. This picture is a great way to view this trip, like any family trip: some clouds, but mostly sunny. Wouldn’t you agree? . . . . . #sailboat #sailingkids #sailing #sweden #visitsweden #norrtälje #slowtravel #familytravel #familylife #neverstopexploring #outdoorsandhappy #ukftb #inspireroo #liveinthemoment

Jetlag working in our favour this morning with the top deck of Top of the Rock nearly to ourselves and zero queues for the lifts. We used our mobile New York #CityPASS which was super easy – they just scanned the QR code on my phone and printed off a paper ticket, and again no queuing!

On her grid find inspiration from their epic African roadtrip, adventures through Asia (particuarly India), with a bit of Peak District (their new home) for good measure.

Urquhart Castle is in a fairytale location, on the banks of Loch Ness. But the beautiful ruins hide a bloody past. On our Rebellion Tour with Loch Ness by Jacobite, we learned how the castle saw battles between Scots and English, Royalists and Jacobites. You’d never have guessed that from the peaceful, beautiful views, though. Our tour gave us a two-hour window to explore the towers, dungeons and grassy banks of the castle before we sailed back to Dochgarroch Lock. The time just flew by. #ad #presstrip . . . . . #urquhartcastle #lochness #MoreThanAMonster #scotland #visitscotland #lovescotland #scotlandisnow #YOYP2018 #travel #familytravel #guardiantravelsnaps #bbctravel #culturetrip #ukexplore #ukftb #ftb100 #wanderlust #travelmore #highlands #scottishhighlands #familytravelblogger #parentbloggersuk #snaphappybritmums #traveltheworld #culturedkids #travelwithkids #travelblogger #historicscotland

M E M O R I E S – I’m still clinging on to every last minute of the holidays – I’ve loved having all three of my babies at home – it’s been a little crazy at times and the adults are slightly frazzled (including the grandparents 😉) but I wouldn’t change a thing!} We enjoyed a fab #coastaladventure last weekend, an opportunity to enjoy the Cornish Coast before the chaos of the school run starts next week (ad). Me and my girls 😍 Tomorrow they both start back at school – Tot in Year 1 and Baby in full time pre-school. And today I realised I’m going to miss them loads. This summer was the first time I’ve done the full-time mum thing since maternity leave. At times it’s driven me crazy but then I remember all the cuddles and brilliant fun we’ve had. Roll on half term and the odd weekend adventure before then 😀. 💖 💖 💖 💖 #Explorerkids #tinytravels #BackyoSchool #familytime #travellingfamily #wetravelmums #wetravelgirls #curiouslittleexplorers #totsphoto #kidsofinstagram #ukftb #ilovetravel #travelmomentswithkids #ftb100 #instatravel #trips100 #travel #summerholidays #ItalyGram #Salo #LakeGarda #familytraveltribe

Wow… I can’t quite believe this is our last day here. We’ve managed a good mix of exploration, relaxing and family time. But a week is never enough is it? From watching turtles hatching to snorkelling in the clearest blue waters, I’m sad our time at Periyali Villas is ending. But we have so many happy memories and I totally get why there are so many repeat visitors. We may be leaving tomorrow but I’ll be sharing more photos and writing lots about our time with @simpsontravel over the coming weeks. 🇬🇷 Thanks for following our journey… . . . #greece #greekislands #sea #beach #beachlife #familytravel #familytrip #familyvaca #familyvacation #traveltagged #lovegreece #hosted #coast #passionpassport #kidswhotravel #travelwithkids #travelkids #lazyday #family #familyfuntime #zakynthos

Do you get the post holiday blues? We’ve only been back in the UK a few days and I’m already longing for Greek island idylls like this gorgeous harbour at Heronissis on the island of Sifnos. We spent hours here – reading on the beach, taking photos and eating a seafood lunch overlooking the water. It all seems a long time ago now. I haven’t picked up a book since I finished Arundhati Roy’s brilliant new novel in the airport departure lounge. I’ve spent the last few days shopping for new school uniforms, pencil cases and school shoes and trying to get two weeks of holiday washing dry in between the rain showers. On the plus side, one of the boys has decided he needs to make a Death by Chocolate cake so provided he doesn’t cause too much destruction in the kitchen, the day should end well… @youareheresifnos @visitgreecegr @discover.greece @cyclades_islands @beautifulcyclades #ttot

Great day out today with friends at @sundown.adventureland . I only heard of this place recently despite it being 50 years old! (and it’s only 50 minutes from where I live.) It’s a theme park for under 10’s which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Each area has a theme from the Wild West, to Robin Hood, Toy Town, Pirates, Fairytales and so much more (including amazing play areas!) We paid for this ourselves and thought it was pretty good value. The new Safari drive (kids get to drive their own car with simple stop and go pedals) was a huge hit as was the fairytale village. Lots of interactive things to do which made familiar tales come alive! We’ve just had the most fabulous week at a family friendly hotel in Kalkan, @KalkanRegency, hosted by @SimpsonTravel. I know already that I am going to be raving about this place for some time to come, and could genuinely see us returning again very soon. If the kids had their way we would book for May half term 2019 now! You can check out the full blog which is linked in the profile above. This photo was taken using our @jobyeurope gorilla pod which was really stable even on the rock it’s all placed on! #jobyeurope The Kalkan Regency Hotel is an adults only hotel for the majority of the year but turns into a Family Friendly hotel in the school holidays. Check Simpson Travel’s website for details of the actual dates. Our time at The Kalkan Regency Hotel reminded me of the weeks we had at Mousses in Lefkas (two years in a row) with good food, great company, and beautiful restaurants close by. While at Mousses it was the incredible British nannies that entertained the children for 3 hours every day allowing us some precious ‘me time’ at The Kalkan Regency Hotel it was all the other children (20 or so aged between 4 and 10) that provided the entertainment. The children absolutely loved it and as we all know happy children means happy parents. It defined family friendly hotel in Kalkan for me.#kalkanrestaurants #familytravel #lhwtraveller #familytime #familyfriendly #luxurytravel #tourist #traveling #vacation #paradise #landscapes #onthebeach #FamilyTravelMoment #mondayescapes #UKFTB #lifecloseup #capturingcolour  #petitejoys #flashesofdelight #thehappynow #pursuepretty #nothingisordinary #abmhappylife #thatsdarling #forahappymoment #holdthemoment
