5 Reasons to Visit Devon this year with Kids recommended by Mini Travellers and some other family travel bloggers.
Beaches
It’s probably what most people head to Devon for. The beaches! Whatever the weather, whatever the time of year there is always something to do on the beach with the Kids. Marsden Devon Cottages have some fabulous properties that you could stay in, and some of them are incredibly close to those stunning beaches too! National Marine Aquarium
Claire recommends the National Marine Aquarium saying it’s “The largest aquarium in the UK and home to hundreds of different species of marine life. The sheer scale of the tanks will have your mind boggling” Claire and her family spent “a few hours looking around the different exhibits, from sea life found in Plymouth Sound, to the planet’s deepest oceans.”
The NMA is a marine conservation leader and works with organisations around the world to protect sea life. There’s a huge focus on education with plenty of facts and figures to keep older children interested as well as amazing tanks for the whole family to enjoy.They have a host of kids activities and we love their 50 Fun Facts to impress your friends too! Kents Cavern – Prehistoric Caves
We love a trip in the caves at Mini Travellers. These pre-historic caves at Kent Cavern are ideal for kids and they offer loads to keep the kids entertained during your visit. It’s also a perfect thing to do if the rain comes out (unlikely I know for England!). They have mini archeological digs, cave painting and kid focused guided tours. Claire has full review here.
Dartmouth Castle
A beautiful fortresses which fiercely guarded the narrow entrance to the Dart Estuary and the busy port of Dartmouth. Full of cannons and kids, well they just love them don’t they. It’s tricky for the little ones to get to the top of the Castle to see the views, and a little worrying for those parents watching their little ones climb the steps, but the kids love it.

Tarka Trail
The Tarka Trail which is inspired by Tarka the Otter, runs for around 180 miles. You can however dip in and out of it and its perfect for cycling and scooting. Many of the sections are incredibly picturesque but Cathy at Mummy Travels recommends “the section between Braunton and Meeth, using the area’s old railway lines. There’s more than 30 miles of trail for cyclists to enjoy, although you’ll have to be lucky to spot an otter.”

Devon looks so gorgeous… We have never been but fancy a trip sometime, preferably in the off-season when things may be a little less touristy. Those caves are very, VERY different to the ones that we explored for our post to this #FearlessFamTrav 😀
