I’ve been tasked with trying to decide which Al Fresco Holidays site we would visit this year as a family if we got the chance.  With over 71 to choose from across Europe it actually isn’t a very easy decision at all.

However at end of the summer last year I was watching a fellow bloggers Instagram feed with interest.

Nell was posting photographs of beaches that looked like she was in the Caribbean however she was in fact in Brittany, in Northern France with her family.  Ever since then I have been plotting a trip.

Reason One : Travel Time

Domaine Des Ormes is just south of St Malo to the very North of Brittany, a mere 22 miles from St Malo ferry port or 24 miles from Dinard airport if you choose to fly.  That means its very easy to get to.

Reason Two: Location

I’d love to explore the beaches and sights around this area of Brittany as they look simply stunning. From St Malo itself to Mont St Michel’s beautiful abbey and museum and the medieval town of Dinan.  The Île du Grand Bé fortress reached only by a causeway looks pretty incredible too.

Reason 3: Kids Clubs (plural)

There isn’t just one kids club at Domaine Des Ormes there are 8. There is literally something for every age group and for mine (aged 6, 5 and 5) they could take part in Fun Station for All, Leo’s Fun Station, Mac’s Fun Station, and Mini Learn to Ride all with different activities.  I know they would love this as they love a bit of craft and games on holiday and I love a bit of reading/sunbathing time!  It also means that we could travel to this site with friends of ours who have older kids as there would be something for them too!

Reason 4: Large Swimming Pool and slides

I think I just need to leave this photo here! For kids who love waterparks like mine do, having one on site is a dream come true!

Reason 5: Other Activities

In addition to the Kids Clubs and swimming pool there is also

  • 18 hole golf course and driving range
  • Cricket field
  • Football/volleyball area
  • Minigolf
  • Ziplines
  • Segways
  • Canoes
  • Banana boats

I’m genuinely not sure with all that going on how we would find time to leave the park and do all the sightseeing I’d want to do too! Definitely a case of being spoilt for choice!

  1. Wow this site looks fantastic! I am saving this post to come back to. I just love the slides and all of the activities on offer – my water babies would have a ball.

We’ve tried 3 Al Fresco sites over the years and our favourite is Sanguli – it’s just a short 3 minute bus trip to a beautiful bay lined with seafood restaurants (the type with lobsters in tanks) which is perfect for foodies like us
