It’s not the most exciting post I’ve ever written but I imagine most of you use a water bottle at some point in the week. Whether you take one to the gym, or keep one on your desk at work to try and make sure you’re drinking the recommended six to eight glasses of water a day, buying a reusable bottle makes a lot of sense.  My kids also have to take one into school every day and believe me we’ve tried a lot to find some that don’t leak.

We’ve tested this selection and reviewed them on the basis of how easy they are to use and drink from, whether they they leak in your bag and how easy they are to keep clean.

1. Hydro Flasks

Hydro Flasks are double-walled vacuum insulated drinking bottles that come in a range of different sizes and colours. A Hydro Flask will keep your drink piping for hot 12 hours and icy cold for 24 making it the perfect travel partner no matter where in the world you’re going. Above is a picture of the 21 oz Standard Mouth flask.
You can buy accessories for Hydro Flask’s such as a Sport Cap, a Straw Lid and a Hydro Flip, adapting them to be just what you need in any situation.  Initially I was really pleased with this bottle but my sport cap has today started leaking a bit when it isn’t directly upwards so for now I reserving judgment and will try out the other lids.  Very easy to keep clean.

2.  S’well drinking bottles from Jules B

Whilst it is also about style with the S’well 9oz marble bottle because it is crafted from stainless steel, and features a double wall construction and vacuum seal it keeps your hot drinks hot for twelve hours, and keeps cold drinks cold for twenty four hours. An essential throughout the seasons.  It looks really good but is a little tricky for the kids to use the screw top.  At £24.99 for the small bottle and £34.99 for the larger 17oz bottle it is in line with the Hydro. Easy to keep clean and doesn’t leak.

3. Infusion Water Bottle from Andrew James

You can put your favourite fruits in the infuser core, or use the core with fruit and herbal teabags. The bottle and lid are made of strong and durable Tritan plastic, which is BPA free and resistant to scratching. The sports cap simply flips open and whilst the silicone sealing ring prevents leaking from the lid, the sorts cap does flip open a little too easily if it isn’t pushed down far enough when used.
Included with the bottle is a specially designed cleaning brush so you can easily clean out the infusion core and don’t have to worry about residue from old fruit spoiling your drink. It’s a bargain at £8.99.

4. Judge Stainless Steel Sports Bottles

These bottles come in two sizes 180ml and 360ml and have tough, insulated double walled stainless steel construction.  Unlike the Hydro or the Swell they only state that they will keep your liquid hot or cold for 6 hours but they are half the price at £12.99 from Amazon. The kids struggle a little with opening these but they don’t leak and they can drink out of them easily. Easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
On balance probably our favourite for every day use.

5. Orla Kiely Water Bottle

The Orla Kiely Water Bottle is made from sturdy aluminium and has a traditional look, it has a 650ml capacity and is dishwasher safe. It’s £8.  It’s a really attractive bottle but the lid does stick from time to time and had on occasion leaked due to this. The cap is also tricky for the kids to put back on. Fine for me though.

6. The Big Bottle

The idea behind the Big Bottle Co Collection is that you fill it in the morning and use it to meet your daily hydration needs in a fun and renewable manner. There are twelve sharp colours & finishes, they are BPA AND BPS free, Dishwasher and Freezer safe and are fun and easy to use.
At £15.95 they aren’t bad value and I also think they are great for filling up on camping/motorhome trips to make sure you don’t run out of water. Not one to take out with you on a daily basis but one to keep around!
