We are huge fans of Speke Hall here at Mini Travellers. It’s our closest National Trust property and we go at least 4 times a year, probably more.
So if you haven’t been, why do we love it and keep returning?
1.Maze which is big enough for fun but small enough for them to run around in on their own (at least they can once they are 4ish!).
2. There is a fun playground.
3. The Giant Childe of Hale Trail – a fun trail with large instruments to play!
4. A woodland adventure playground with a zip wire!
5. Huge gardens to run around in
6. A fascinating house with trails that change frequently to entertain the children.
7. Events at every half term or holiday that focus on the kids. We’ve been to sporty ones and character ones and the most recent one was Sleeping Beauty! They also put on great theatre in the Summer – we loved Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.
8 Kids just love it!
To see more about Speke Hall why not take a look at our little video! We’d love a comment on You Tube to tell us what you think!
NB: This post is not sponsored in any way, we just love the National Trust!
The National Trust just get better and better for families, I love the play areas they now have and there is usually a themed trail to follow in the grounds at special times of year. I’ve seen posts from Speke Hall before and it looks great. #MondayEscapes
Looks lovely – must admit though I’d never heard of it before #mondayescapes
We are huge fans of visiting mazes.
They’ve become a must do on holiday and at home here in Perth.
Oh I love that they have a maze that kids can enjoy themselves! I hate mazes!
Speke Hall sounds fantastic! We love visiting National Trust properties and they do such a great job making it a fun experience for families. #MondayEscapes
That looks like a great place to visit! The trail with instruments is fantastic. I don’t think we have anything like that here in The Netherlands. #MondayEscapes
A maze! We’ve only ever been in one at Leeds Castle, but they’re so much fun. I like the sound of Speke Hall. #MondayEscapes
it looks like a fun place for a family:) #mondayescapes
I love how much NT do for kids. Such a good mix for adults and children and I think we might have to add Speke Hall to our list of places to take the boys!
The National Trust sounds like a fun place! #mondayescapes
We love the National Trust too. Haven’t been to Speke Hall yet, but it looks fab. #mondayscapes
What a lovely looking place. The costumed volunteers reality add to the atmosphere. It’s lovely having somewhere like this so close so you can go again and again #MondayEscapes
It’s lovely to have a favourite spot that children love to keep visiting. Sounds like this really ticks all the boxes. Love the idea of the musical instruments on the trail.

Looks right up our alley! It is so nice that you can explore there so often and it changes enough to keep the kids interest. #mondayescapes
We too love the National Trust and have a great property 10 mins from us plus a lot of coastline. We like visiting other properties when we are travelling round the country. Thanks for sharing Speke Hall it’s one we haven’t been to. Thanks too for hosting #MondayEscapes
Love visiting National Trust properties. Where is Speke Hall as it is somewhere I haven’t heard of? #mondayescapes
Wow, it looks amazing there. National Trust properties are fantastic places to visit with families, and Speke Hall looks just brilliant. There are so many things there for the children to do!
It looks a fantastic place to visit and I love the variety of activities x
This looks really fun. I hadn’t heard of it before so thanks for the insight. I particularly like the look of the zip wire! #mondayescapes
Love places where families can relax and have fun! So good there are activities for kids an even plays! #MondayEscapes
Anything with a zip wire and a maze can only be good! #MondayEscapes
Got to love a National Trust day out! This one looks great, my boys would LOVE the maze and the zip wire. Great little video too!
#MondayEscapes
Maze and zip line? My girls would be sold – too bad we live so far away ;). But we did go zip lining nearby in the fall and that’s our new favorite activity.
I have never heard of this place – I will have to check it out when I am in the area #MondayEscapes
Looks a great place to visit with kids. Im sure my boys would love the maze!
Sounds like you have the perfect day out on your doorstep! My children are too old for the NT activities now but used to enjoy them a few years back.#Mondayescapes
Speke Hall looks fantastic! We have many ‘big houses’ here in Ireland, most of them privately owned, and while some make huge efforts to welcome families, it’s not the same standard as National Trust properties in the UK.

We love the national trust – this looks wonderful , my little ones would love the maze!
The National Trust is the best – always so much to see and do. And, you come away feeling quite wholesome! #mondayescapes
Sounds a great place. Thanks for hosting #MondayEscapes
a bit too far for me to travel from my UK base in South Wales, but I’m looking for places to take my 6 year old niece this year during the holidays
I love National Trust properties, there’s always so much for kids to do. It’s great having a place like Speke close by. I will have to check it out when we’re next in the area. #MondayEscapes
So lucky to have such a wonderful NT property near you – looks beautiful! We haven’t got a car at the moment (city living, 12 month wait for a permit!) so it’s hard for us to go, but getting a NT membership is the first thing on our list the minute we get that permit through the post 😀
Ah, my kids would love this Karen, fab! One to add to the (very long) list…. 🙂 #MondayEscapes
