The industrious people over at Carden Park, in Cheshire, have been very busy during lockdown in creating a brand-new Pursuits area in their 1000 acre estate. This area is multi-purpose in providing great team-building activities for corporate clients which is cleverly utilised as a family activity the rest of the time.
We visited at the start of the summer holidays to find our group a mixture of families and couples who were staying at the hotel, taking advantage of the ‘staycation’ but also a few local people who were visiting just for Vertigo. We arrived a little late due to traffic problems, but Sapphire immediately put me at ease while Chris got the boys set up in their safety harnesses.

So, what is Vertigo? It is 18 mid-air obstacles over two levels – there are varying degrees of difficulty, and my boys (aged 8 and 10) felt the lower tier was harder, with the upper tier being scarier!
The views of the Cheshire countryside and Welsh hills are amazing, but by far the best view is from the 210-meter zip line which bring you back to ground level.
The team at the hotel were fantastic and patiently answered all the boys’ questions, one of their friends was a bit scared at one point and they didn’t put him under any pressure but gently encouraged him so he actually ended up doing the scarier upper level!
We had a great time, everyone felt safe from both the heights and covid! Freddie, aged 10 said “It was really fun, the zip wire at the end was amazing!”
