We were lucky enough to be invited to Land Rover at Solihul for the VIP Press launch of the new iCandy for Landrover Pushchair on the 15th September.

From the moment we arrived at the Hogarth Hotel, we were treated to a VIP experience. Our luxury hotel room was waiting for us, complete with a goody bag to set us up for a restful night’s sleep. Bubble bath, pillow spray and chocolate treats were just some of the things inside! We had a delicious evening meal then settled down excited for the launch.

After a full english breakfast, sparkly new Land Rovers lined up to take us from the hotel to HQ in style.

When we arrived, we were introduced to the iCandy team and most importantly we got to get our hands on the much anticipated new iCandy for Land Rover Pushchair. With its eye-catching design this pushchair is going to be the envy of all parents.
Having had an iCandy Peach, I was keen to see what new features there were, and can really say that they’ve pulled out all the stops for this pushchair. It’s been 2 years in the making and the collaboration between Land Rover and iCandy is evident in the detail.

We witnessed a full cinematic introduction of how the new all-terrain pushchair was born, from both design and engineering teams, in order to produce the perfect pushchair for adventurous parents. We got to understand behind the scenes quite how much work has been put into the design from both brands, we saw mood boards and sketches detailing the journey. We listened to Paul Beckett, the Senior Creative Designer at Land Rover, and Paul Walker who is Head of Product at iCandy. We observed the key ethos behind both brands and understood how this is a celebration of two British icons combining to create a new product.

What we came to understand is that this isn’t just an iCandy with Land Rover branding.

The two brands genuinely worked together to ensure that they were completely happy with every component of the pushchair. From the pattern on the side of the handle bars which matches the grill on a Land Rover, these features connect the user to both brands.

iCandy were there to answer any questions and we were free to explore the pushchairs, although we didn’t actually get a demonstration. After having a Peach I knew the basics so had a good play. Here are the main new features above and beyond the Peach All Terrain.

1. 4 Foam Filled Wheels

Although many off road pushchairs are 3 wheels, the 4 wheels actually provide a lot more stability over rough ground and manoeuvrability is not compromised. Foam wheels mean there are no punctures but still provide a lot of the cushioning you would get from air filled.

2. Carrycot / Seat Unit

Finally no separate carrycot required! Parents out there know that once baby has outgrown the carrycot it can be an annoyingly large piece of baby kit to store. Both parts now share the same frame with a zip in system.

3. Swivel bumper bar

Need I say more? No more lifting a child over a bumper bar, just simply swivel it to one side for easy access.

4. Seat recline adjuster

This is now a one handed lever at the back of the seat, if child is world facing you no longer need to come to the front to adjust.

5. Weight

With an aluminium frame this pushchair is now lighter than ever.

We were honoured to hear from Olympic Gold medallist Amy Williams on her experience of using the new pushchair with her son. She also has the All Terrain Peach and was glad to report that the new iCandy for Land Rover pushchair was lighter, has a bigger seat unit and was much more stable, particularly when going up and down steps.

After lunch we were treated to an adrenaline filled off-road driving experience on site. I got to manoeuvre an 80 thousand pound Range Rover Sport over all kinds of terrain. There are 3 tracks, urban, park and jungle. I navigated steep inclines, descents, water, low traction surfaces, bridge crossings and more.

My favourite was definitely the jungle track with the muddy ruts and a long section of water about 60cm deep.  It’s amazing that these standard cars we see all over the roads are easily capable of such difficult terrain.

I was excited to be one of the first to see the new iCandy for Land Rover all terrain pushchair in the flesh. I urge you to take a look at this in stores and consider it for your baby.
