It’s that time of year when the weather is changeable and we never know whether we are going to have a lovely Summer day or freezing cold rain. It’s also the time of year when more outdoor events start getting planned and the last thing you want to do is cancel.
Space and time away from the house is so important to children’s mental health yet often we can struggle to persuade them out of the house in bad weather.
One of my favourite sayings – to the kids – is the age old “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothes.”
Alfred Wainwright
So I was delighted when Very.co.uk got in touch and asked us to try out some of their outdoor range which is perfect for walking, hiking or trail running! We do a lot of all of these.
Very.co.uk have a huge range of sports and leisure clothing selling many of our favourite brands like North Face, Regatta and Adidas.
For Izzy and Eve aged 10, I chose these gorgeous lightweight kids rain jackets by Regatta. They are lightweight enough to stuff into a rucksack when the sun comes out, but windproof so they suit a wintery beach walk too.
I chose a brilliant long North Face jacket which will not only suit me for beach walks but for football and cross country watching too. It’s brilliant and has a hood that actually stays up. Lily has also decided that she would like this coat to be hers as its tricky buying clothes for her at the moment as she’s so tall for 11 that often things age 13 don’t fit, but age 14.15 are too big! Apparently this coat is oversized fashion for her!
I have also lost my new hiking trainers to Lily too (which you can see above), which is the downside to having a daughter with the same size feet. These Adidas Terrex Trailmaker came up a little small, so were perfect for her nearly 5 but not quite size 5 feet.
Shoes wise we all chose black trainers/trail shoes (being the most practical for getting covered in mud, clay and sand). Lily and I wore ours the whole week in Amsterdam exploring too and they were great, we definitely put some steps in that week.
Eve and I have ended up with the same kids adidas trainers just in different sizes. I’m sure I’ll lose mine to Lily too, as seems to be the way!
Izzy’s trail shoes will be great for her cross country and fell running when she needs the next size up, but also brilliant just for the beach and walking too.
If you’re looking for new clothes for good weather or bad weather. I’d definitely recommend you checking out very.co.uk
