Marina di Venezia near Venice

Marina di Venezia is a large and lively site with 2915 pitches! The superb pool complex includes an Olympic-size swimming pool, fantastic water sprayground, giant jacuzzis and waterslides for all ages. It is worth knowing that the pool complex closes during the afternoon summer Siesta (13.00 – 15.00hrs) from late May to mid September. The parc runs its own kids club and there are lots of activities on site for children (some cost extra to do though!) . There are many good comments about the food available in the restaurants, particularly the pizzas, and that the pricing is reasonable. Other highlights of the site are that it has direct access to the beach or you can hire bikes to explore the surrounding woodland. There is a ferry port nearby with ferries to Venice. The site is 3.5 km from the nearest town.

Jodie Humphries We loved our holiday at Marina di Venezia near Venice. It’s a 5 star site with lots of pools and a splash park and has direct access to a beautiful sandy beach. The port is a short taxi ride away and you can get on the boat to Venice! Amazing. If you have preschoolers this is amazing value – we stayed for less than £400 for 8 days but in school holidays the price rockets so take advantage while you can! Www.maidenheadmum.co.uk

Camping Village Fabulous Campsite near Rome

Which Eurocamp sites can you visit without a car?

This Italian gem Camping Village Fabulous is 8km from the beautiful Ostia coast with its beautiful beaches, and is surrounded by 70 acres of pine forest.   There is also public transport close by to take you straight into Rome.

Our Mini Travellers who visited Camping Fabulous loved it as a base for exploring Rome and said, “With a family I don’t think you could choose better, I could not imagine having to go back to a hotel room after a long day out and trying to occupy the young ones.  What Eurocamp offer you is the perfect mix of proximity to Rome and comfort for all.”

Union Lido, Cavallino, Adriatic

Union Lido is also a large site with 2930 pitches. The nearest town is around 2km away. There is direct access to a 1km private beach from the parc where there is a lifeguard service. At the beach you can hire pedalos and go scuba diving or to windsurfing school. The facilities in the parc include include two spectacular pool complexes, complete with a lagoon pool, slides galore, and even a flowing river. There’s a small train that goes all around the parc, plus to and from the beach which is handy. The parc runs its own kids clubs. To relax there is a wellness centre and spa (extra charge) at the parc. There are also great restaurants and bars to keep you well fed and watered. If you want to venture out for the day Union Lido is within easy reach of Venice and the enchanting island of Murano.

Venice with Kids On a Budget! www.minitravellers.co.uk

Why not have a read of our post about Venice with Kids on a budget!

Pra Delle Torri Campsite, Caorle, Adriatic

A large site with 1500 pitches, Pra Delle Torri is located 3km from the nearest town and it had direct access to a compact beach, where you can try out some watersports. Back on parc, there are 4 pool complexes with 6 water slides and a pirate-themed lagoon pool! If you like playing golf you’ll find an 18-hole golf course overlooking the sea that offers a 40% reduction on green fees for Eurocamp customers. The parc runs its own kids club and there is a great animation programme, pedalos and even mini rollercoasters and go-karts, plus lots of places to eat and drink.

Bella Italia Campsite, Peschiera, Italian Lakes

Bella Italia is a popular recommendation. It lies on the south eastern tip of Lake Garda so is in a beautiful location. You couldn’t pick a place more perfect for kids who love fun and anyone who loves sightseeing. Mini Traveller Louise recently visited Bella Italia and says, “Bella Italia is huge! On first arrival it seemed a little daunting but its friendly staff and extensive facilities quickly made it home. If you come to visit some of Italy’s most famous and beautiful places, it’s perfectly situated; 20 minutes from Verona, around 2 hours to Venice and Milan with lots of local options to explore and soak up the ambiance.”

From the campsite there is direct access to the lakeside beach, although the fabulous pool complex with its four pools (including children’s pool, lagoon pools and waterslides) offers loads of fun for all ages. The parc runs its own kids club. At weekends throughout June, July and August, the ‘animatore’ provides a variety of entertainment too! Off parc, the cycling path between Mantova and Peschiera (also within walking distance) runs past the entrance.

Facilities at Bella Italia are comprehensive with a variety of shops including a reasonably priced supermarket, fruit and veg, clothes and toy / souvenir shop in addition to the pool side offerings of fast food, ice cream and sorbet lollies. One evening a local mini market arrived, selling various souvenirs and clothes via local trades people.

Ca’Savio Campsite, Cavallino-Treporti, Adriatic

Just a ferry trip away from Venice, this large, 1500 pitch, child-friendly holiday parc is set in beautiful green surroundings. The site has two pool complexes – room enough for everyone to have a leisurely swim or a splash about. For children there is a Eurocamp kids club and a parc run kids club to choose from. There are lots of activities during high summer, and direct access to a beautiful, long sandy beach. The nearest town is approximately 1 km away with bars and restaurants, and if you want to explore further, simply hop on a bus or hire bikes. You can even take a boat trip to Venice! In the interest of giving a balanced review of the site it appears mosquitos can be quite an issue so go well prepared with mosquito repellant.

Park Albatros Campsite, San Vincenzo, Tuscany, Central Italy & Elba

Park Albatros is a large and lively parc spread over 30 acres and has 1200 pitches. It is ideally located for day trips to Elba from the Port of Piombino. The parc is surrounded by the Rimigliano pine forest, facing onto the sparkling waters of Baratti Bay. At the pool complex you can take your pick of three lagoon pools, a family pool with retractable cover, a toddler pool and an Olympic-sized one, too. The parc runs its own kids’ activities and there is a huge sandy beach around 0.8 km away. The onsite supermarket is well stocked and for eating out the parc offers a variety of dining experiences: a buffet-style service, traditional rustic Italian, pizzeria, snack bar, creperie and gelateria that serves sumptuous home-made ice cream. A free mini train runs during the day to bring guests from the outer parts of the camp site to the pools and shops.

Altomincio Family Park Campsite, Salionze, Italian Lakes

Altomincio is located only 7 km from Lake Garda and is a large site with 750 pitches. The nearest town is 1 km away. The site is a popular choice for those with younger children. The pool complex includes outdoor, lagoon and kids’ pool complete with spongy surface. There is also bike hire, sports fields, crazy golf, kids’ disco, play area and activities organised by the parc’s ‘animateur’. After a day packed with activities, enjoy a freshly baked pizza before treating everyone to delicious ice creams from the gelateria. During your stay, you could also enjoy the excitement of the Gardaland theme park. It’s worth knowing that cars are not allowed on Altomincio so there is off-pitch parking, but it is very useful to have a car to explore the area. There is a small train (free) that runs every 10 mins to take guests from one side of the park to the other.

Portofelice Camping Village Eraclea Mare, Adriatic

Portofelice Camping Village is a medium-sized parc (397 pitches) has direct access to a private beach. On-site you can enjoy family-friendly facilities such as a great playground, complete with trampolines and mini go-karts. Portofelice’s pool complex promises plenty of fun as well, including 3 pools and 2 water slides. The site operates its own kids’ club and a number of reviews state the entertainment is more suited for younger children. From mid May – mid September there is a restaurant and takeaway open on site. There’s a great sense of nature here too; wander amongst the pine trees and forest to discover the long sandy beach, which has its own bar serving snacks and drinks. If you want to explore off-parc, catch the daily bus in peak season to Punta Sabbioni, where you can hop on a boat to Venice and the surrounding islands. A car is recommended for this site.
