We are a family of five – which is awkward for accommodation. Now that our littlest one is out of her cot, most hotels can’t fit us into one room anymore, and many hotels don’t have suites with interconnecting rooms.
A hunt for comfortable accommodation for a family of 5 is how I came to discover the Birchover Residences – luxurious East Midlands apartment-hotels.
At a competitive price (on our night of booking – a similar price to 2 basic rooms in the Nottingham city centre Travelodge) we were able to stay in an enormous three-bedroom luxury apartment. It is an apartment complete with free parking, wifi and breakfast supplies (for which you’re often charged an extra fee at the Travelodge). You can see why the Birchover residences were appealing to us!
Aside from the value for money, however, the facilities and grandeur of our suite blew us away!
We stayed in the three-bedroom Musters Suite in Bridgford Hall in Nottingham. Our apartment had three spacious bedrooms – one with an ensuite. The family bathroom boasted a his and hers sink, walk in shower, and roll top bath. Toiletries and towels were provided.
The heart of the apartment was the spacious kitchen/diner/living room – which was fully equipped with everything you could need for a long-term stay including a washing machine, dishwasher and the fanciest toaster and kettle I’ve ever seen! Some dishwasher tablets and washing capsules were provided too.
We were supplied with cereal and milk – and our children were delighted with their Coco Pops. While we were only staying in the Musters Suite for one night, it felt a shame not to use the enormous kitchen – so we bought supplies from the local Co-op (just a stone’s throw away) for bacon sandwiches. If we’d been feeling lazier then a Wetherspoons and Costa were also very close by, as well as a range of lovely looking independent cafes.
Bridgford Hall has everything that a family would want in accommodation – internet connection for devices, CBeebies on the TV and even an adventure playground and park right outside. We arrived at our accommodation when it was dark outside, but when we put up the blinds in the morning, the children gasped with excitement at the sight of Bridgford Park and its playground. Naturally we paid a visit that morning so the children could run off some steam before our onward journey.
Check-in was simple and straightforward. We were given the code to enter the building by email, and a code for the Musters Suite Key Safe. We arrived fairly late on a Sunday night, so we didn’t see any staff at that point, but the next morning we met several members of the Birchover Residences team – they were friendly, helpful, professional and kind to our children.
Birchover have five different residences ranging from 1 bed to 4 bed apartments to a three-bed house, to an apartment hotel. Most residences are in city centre locations in Derby, Nottingham and Lincoln and are in beautiful Victorian and Georgian properties. It is possible to stay for 1 night, right up to 6 months.
Longer term lets are suitable for all sorts of people – like those away from home on business, or families in the middle of house moves or home renovations. Included in the fees are all bills, a weekly clean and fully furnished accommodation.
Prices fluctuate and it is best to enquire with Birchover residences directly for the cheapest rates:
- One bedroom apartments start from £100 per night
- Two bedroom apartments and houses start from £150 per night
- Three bedroom apartments and houses start from £180 per night
Enquire online for prices with the friendly team.
We would highly recommend a stay at the Birchover Residences. If you are looking for accommodation which is memorable, comfortable, has a luxury feel but is good value for money for your family, then look no further.
