CarGo Seat is a children’s car booster seat that converts into a rolling suitcase and they have just launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the last stages of safety testing in Europe and an initial manufacturing run. The idea came about when Gary Burns, chief executive of CarGo Seat, was on holiday and hired a car plus two booster seats for his children.
CarGo Seat has already passed stringent safety standard testing in the US with hopes to be approved for use in Europe later this year.
We were sent a pre-production prototype to have a look at and you can see Lily’s thoughts on the booster seat below.
Please do be aware that she slightly misunderstood where the seat cover would go – it actually sits on top of the seat to make it comfier (although she did think it should be able to fit inside when it rains!) and it will also come with lap strap guides as well.

Looks a fabulous idea for storage and saving space in the car but for me it’s too like the old fashioned booster seat which isn’t safe enough for children to use!!!
Thank you for your comment. This is a reply from CarGo seat on the facebook page: Currently we are FMVSS213 compliant in the US which is 4-12 yrs 40lbs to 100lbs. For ECE reg we are working closely with TASS in Netherlands and passed pre testing. We will be Group 3 22kg-36kg and will conform to the new booster laws. There is no way we would be allowed to sell CarGo seat without this certification. We are all for child safety and children should be in a high back booster as long as possible and suggest (as per our Group 3 status) 6+ Backless booster seats are perfectly legal and our product is aimed at short term travel where you could hire a broken, filthy seat or indeed break the law by travelling without a booster.
