I took my son Charlie, aged 9, daughter Rosie, aged 5 and Charlie’s friend Doug, aged 9, to see Circolomobia -Acelere at the Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays. We had a fantastic time. Charlie thought it was “awesome”. My other daughter had gone to see Little Mix with my wife on the same night and I definitely chose the right event!
There was a 15 minute curtain raiser performed by a group from Rochdale who danced to Colombian music and entertained us with various acrobatic moves they had learnt from Circocolmbia.
Circocolmbia then kept everyone captivated for an hour which was just the right time for the age of my kids. The show was a mixture of Colombian singing, dancing and some breathtaking acrobatics.
The show started off with someone diving onto a mat from a great height. There were some amazing acrobatics featuring swings, ropes, a see-saw and the sheer strength of the performers propelling each other in the air. At one stage a performer jumped off a swing to be caught by 2 other performers after flying 20 feet with various flips and somersaults.
There was plenty to keep the kids entertained. Doug enjoyed watching “the man on the long rope doing cool moves” and the fact that “they knew where to land without falling over”. Charlie thought it was “impressive that they could catch people flying”. Rosie loved the performer who swung from the roof on a long rope at the end and took off to fly. They all said they were a bit scared that the performers may fall but this did not detract from the enjoyment.
The show finished around 9pm to a standing ovation. There were plenty of other kids at the performance who were evidently having an equally good time.
This show is a winner for all the family.
The Lowry was a good venue. It was easy to park (£3.50), they were welcoming and offered booster seats for my youngest for no cost. Check out what else is on at The Lowry here.
NB: Ed and his family visited The Lowry as guests but all views and opinions are his own.
This looks great, I bet my Sam would have loved it!
