Look at that face. Do you think it looks timid and nervous? No, me neither. Usually my little one is rather shy or new people, new experiences and especially animals. But there is something about Coombe Mill Farm Holidays that made her, and us all, feel right at home.

During our weeks stay my three year old held chicks, chickens and a duck. Stroked goats, sheep, donkeys and rabbits. And chased geese, wallabies and deer. She also was given charge of the chicken feed and drove the tractor with the farmers, twice! She absolutely thrived

On top of the daily feed run Coombe Mill provides a host of other fun activities. From the magical fairy garden to the toddler ride on area, the park with the zip wire (hours of fun!), old tractor, slides and swings, to the pirate park. The indoor play barn complete with trampolines to the weekly activity hour. We made twig fish to write messages on and hang in the fairy garden, then we had a fun half an hour pond dipping.

Then there’s the proximity of Coombe Mill to some of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches. We visited Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock Beaches during our stay.

There’s loads of non beach activities locally too, with the Eden Project, The Camel Cycling Trail, Lanhydrock House, Hengar Manor for swimming and/or spa, Dairyland Farm World, Cornwall’s Crealy Theme Park, Tintagel and all of it’s Arthurian legends and the gorgeous Padstow (one of my favourite places in the UK) just to name a few.

Back at the accommodation (we stayed in Trebah Scandinavian lodge), not that we spent a huge amount of time there, there were luxuriously comfortable beds, all of the kitchen facilities you could want (including a washing machine and tumble drier), a lovely deck overlooking the river Camel, a huge playroom upstairs filled with no end of toys, free wifi and two bathrooms.

There is also a borrow room, located at reception, filled with beach toys, wetsuits, waterproofs, BBQs, DVDs, games and more toys that you borrow for free. Fiona, the Farmer’s wife, also stocks the freezer with home made goodies you can buy if you don’t feel like cooking or eating out. We never got around to trying any though as we ate out every day, there were just so many fabulous places to eat nearby.

You can’t go wrong with a holiday to Coombe Mill. We don’t tend to visit the same place twice but have already decided on the date we’ll visit in two years time and I can see us returning every few years for a very long time!
