I’ve always loved to travel. I think the travel bug started for me when I realised that a trip to Thailand one Summer was cheaper than a trip to Spain and we just went. It was the rainy season and the company I’d chosen wasn’t that good, but I was inspired. The world was a big place and I wanted to see it all. When I left university I borrowed the money from the bank that should have been using for my law course and went on a round the word trip with three friends, and even our wedding was planned in December so we could honeymoon where we wanted to (if you’re interested it was a trek to the Annapurna Mountain range in Nepal).

So when someone asked me the other day where I’d travel if money wasn’t an issue, if we had won the lottery especially the £250 million Lottoland Powerball win – it was an easy answer. We would pack up the house, ‘home school’ the kids for a year, and go on a round the world trip. Honestly I actually think we would do this if we won any of the five number second prizes of around £720,000 too. Travel would always be what I would spend and lottery win on and my dream is to take that year away from reality and just go.
I’ve recently become a little obsessed with the travels of Mother of 5 Boys who has been to some amazing places on their travels and is really showing that just because you have young children you don;t have stop following your dreams.
Now in my usual dreams we would buy a round the World ticket and plan the trip out fairly meticulously, working out the best deals in each country – where we should stay in which place and where the money we had saved up would be spent. However if we were talking lottery win type money then I’d be looking to put some really exciting dream locations in like
Galapagos Islands
Maybe a tailor made family adventure which explores the Northern Islands of the Galapagos archipelago, where children can come face to face with the islands’ unique wildlife.
- Stand on the Equator
- Snorkel in a marine adventure playground
- See giant tortoises
- Visit a pink beach
- See wading birds feeding in lagoons
I’d also want to look at staying in a safari camp like this one!

Mozambique
I think a little snorkelling in Mozambique might do the job too, particularly after a private African Safari! Imagine staying in some of the world’s most undiscovered, pristine environments. Completely private and removed from the rest of the world.
Imagine a private getaway on a secluded island, a hidden gem located on one of Mozambique’s most remote and pristine Archipelagos, a marine paradise that offers total privacy and exclusivity. Azura Quilalea brings to life a relaxed and comfortable ‘Robinson Crusoe’ castaway experience, combined with Azura’s trademark African-chic style. Azura is ideal for marine-life-lovers with amazing dive sites and an abundance of sea life. Adorned with humpback whales from July to November, nesting turtles from November to April, and pods of dolphins on your villa doorstep all year round. On land they offer exclusive picnics, romantic candle-lit beach dinners, island walks, cultural trips and relaxing treatments at their African Spa. Here is somewhere to relax, unwind and forget about the world. #tailormadesafaris #safari #africa #safariworx #safariworxafrica #azuraretreats #quilalea #privateisland #supremeluxury #mozambique #indianoceanislands #travel #luxurytravel #tailormadetravel #bespoketravel #azuraretreats #island #quirimbas #quirimbasarchipelago 📷: @safariworxafrica
African Bush Camp
Watching elephants drink water from this distance away with a cold drink in hand is mine and the kids idea of pure perfection
Giraffe Manor
or perhaps this is actually pure perfection!
Necker Island
A cliche maybe but if money really was no object then this would have to be on the lost! At least just for a couple of nights. Just to see what all the fuss was about you understand!
So if you had won the lottery where would you go? Like any of my ideas?
