On the 15 of February we went see the Emperor’s New Clothes with our Mum and Sister at Sale Waterside Arts Centre. It took 20 mins to get there from our house in Heaton Moor. The performance was about an hour long with no interval. The show was a bit different to the original story, because there was a modern day couple using mostly puppets to act out the story. Even though there were only two people acting it out, there were lots of different characters.

We thought it was really funny, especially the time when the Emperor came out naked, on his horse, for the parade. The two characters were really funny when they pretended to be ‘Bolshy and Banana’ – the fashion designers who were going to make the Emperor’s New Clothes in exchange for bed and breakfast at the palace and a BIG bag of money for doing nothing at all…

The show was lots of fun for all ages (apart from babies that have just been born).  My mum was laughing a lot and my sister who is 5 liked it too.

The theatre was nice and comfy and it was easy to see the stage. The was a nice big cafe, that sold drinks (including wine, tea and coffee for grownups) fruit-shoots for kids. There were nice snacks and many other treats and sweets.  There was also an art gallery next to the cafe with some really good pictures by children.

We’ve given the show five stars. How many will you give it?

NB: Our Mum didn’t pay for the tickets to the show but we still loved it and this review is our own
