The Lowry, which presents some of the UK’s largest touring work has commissioned Salford based theatre company Colour the Clouds to produce a brand new Christmas show The Extraordinary Tale of Holly Christmas.
Colour the Clouds joined The Lowry’s Associate Artist programme in 2017 after the success of Aleena’s Garden (Review here), a sensory production for 0-3 year olds which was Developed With The Lowry.
The Extraordinary Tale of Holly Christmas will tell the story of a little girl who has never had the Christmas she dreams of. The show is on Wednesday 20th December – Sun 24 December & Wednesday 27th December – Sunday 31 December.
The premise of the story is that Holly Christmas is clever, fun and fearless; and her Dad is the complete opposite. A magic book, a Christmas wish and two Elfish-ly brilliant Christmas helpers launch Holly on an adventure she’ll never forget, creating everything she thinks Christmas should be and teaching Holly, and her Dad, what a perfect Christmas really looks like.
Colour the Clouds provide a unique theatrical experience for family audiences, combining accessible new writing with engaging, original music and vibrant physicality.
Claire Symonds, programmer and producer at The Lowry said; “Colour the Clouds have worked with The Lowry over the last three years and produced some brilliant family theatre. At the start of the year I invited them to become Associate Artists at The Lowry and trust them to produce a fantastic Christmas family show. I can’t wait to see how The Extraordinary Tales of Holly Christmas develops over the coming months.”
