Earlier in the year I wrote a post about being excited that British Airways did Family Holidays now and that I was planning where we could go with them. Well I’ve decided. I looked at all the options and whilst there are absolutely loads of places to choose from I’ve settled on a Family Holiday in Rome.

I adore Rome, it is possibly one of my favourite cities in the World. I had been a couple of times before I met my husband and last year we went to celebrate his 40th birthday. Now I want to take the girls. My Sister in Law and Mother in Law took two of my nephews last year and you can see their review here, they had an amazing trip and I just love their video.

I love everything about Rome, I love the food, the history, the enthusiasm of the Italians for their Capital City. I’ve been blessed with really good weather (for the time of year) each time I’ve visited and even in January last year we sat out in the evening without coats sipping a glass of wine.

The flight time to Rome from London will only be around 3.5 hours and knowing that I can book Family Holidays with British Airways and they will sort it all out for me, makes it an easy win. British Airways mantra is that if your kids are happy you’ll be just as contented too, so they’ve carefully selected a range of family-friendly hotels where all your needs are catered for.

When I searched for holidays on the site and selected some dates for early May the website came up with a hotel in Rome that looks perfect for the kids. It isn’t too far away from the Vatican which means we would be able to walk, but it is also close to an underground station. If I’m being picky I would like some direct links on the website through to reviews of the hotel, although it isn’t beyond the wit of man to google the name of the hotel they’ve picked out for you and find some reviews yourself.

Alternatively you can find some of the Best Areas to Stay in Rome here and then look for hotels.

Cost wise I think it is pretty reasonable at just over £1000 for 5 people which includes all flights accommodation and baggage allowance. Executive Club members (which we are) also earn 2346 extra Avios per booking, which all helps get towards those free flights to New York for my 40th! Whilst we might not actually take that much luggage for a weekend, the cost these days of adding luggage onto your ‘cheap’ flights for your summer holiday suddenly makes those ‘cheap’ flights look not so cheap after all. For a summer holiday I can see British Airway Family Holidays looking even more reasonable indeed.
