We have just had one of the best days out as a family we have ever had. Part of this was definitely the age the girls have got to, the moods they were all in, the fact it was incredibly quiet and the exceptional September weather but we had a really really really good time at Gullivers World in Warrington today.

We had picked up some £10 passes for returning customers earlier in the summer and managed not to pay for the twins as they were just under 90cm (possibly) So rather than £15 per person the tickets cost us £30 all in.
We hadn’t told the girls what we were doing until we set off but they were hugely excited in the car and ran thorough the gates at the entrance expectantly as we had had a fab time earlier in the summer at Lightwater Valley.

First impressions were that it is looking a little tired. Signs are weathered and worn and paint work is falling off. The girls however don’t notice things like that, and after a trip to the toilet (very clean if you’re interested) we set off on the little train which is right near the entrance. This gave us a flavour of how the park was set out and gave the girls the chance to sing the first rendition (definitely not the last) of the run away train came down the track as she blew blew blew blew blew.

After seeing lots of dinosaurs on the little train we set off in that direction to find them. The rides particularly in adventure land seemed to be aimed at younger children (between 3 and 6) and there were loads of rides that they could go on with or without us. We had also picked a very very quiet day so they were often able to walk on without queuing and ride again if they wanted to.

They particularly liked the rings in the water and loved spotting all the animals.

 

Where we came across a bit of a problem was when the children needed an adult to get on the ride with them. With 3 of them and 2 of us, we had to do 3 separate rides as we obviously couldn’t leave a child on their own. This was very time consuming at points as some of the rides took a while and they got a little bit stressed deciding whose turn it was to go first.

The quietness really did make our day and they got braver and braver as the day went on, with 2 out of the 3 loving the caterpillar roller coaster.

Food wise, they seem to actively encourage you to bring picnics and we saw loads of people had brought their own. In bad weather you can eat these inside too so definitely worth doing. The food we had was pretty poor and the selection quite limited. This may have been the time of year but when we go back we will certainly take food with us.

We didn’t take a pushchair with us at all and our nearly 3 year old twins and 4 year old wandered around happily: it isn’t far at all between rides and the gaps are usually filled with mini playgrounds. There are absolutely loads of these which is great if you need to wait whilst other children are on rides.

Our three also loved Gully’s world. It’s just a collection of mini shops and houses for them to play in. Again I thought it looked a little tired but Children really don’t notice these things. It was clean and empty so it was perfect. On a similar note they also loved pootling round the western village, and were in and out of the bank, hotel and shop whilst we had a coffee.

We ended up staying for about 5 hours, finishing the day by calling at Pizza Express for tea. A fantastic family day out!
