Our first holiday venturing out as a family of 4 (children aged 6 yrs and a 6 month old baby), we decided Cornwall would be a good choice with plenty to do.
With a lot of wants and would likes on the list, we settled on a short list of holiday properties. Having stayed at Retallack Resort in the past, we wanted something similar but located a bit closer to the coast, Gwel an Mor was ideal. The resort was small but well kept with a play area, indoor pool and spa (for mummy) and a wonderful restaurant.
Our accommodation was clean, and had everything you need, living accommodation and a balcony with the most fab views over the Cornish Coast upstairs.
The sleeping accommodation is on the lower level and there is a large gated decking area, perfect for scooters ( albeit not so perfect for the neighbours!) Some have hot tubs too (thoroughly recommended for evening chill out time). Cot, high chair and stair gates were provided by the resort.
There is a small farm just next to the resort with animals the children can visit, and there are organised wildlife activities for all ages! The beach is about a 10 min walk down the woodland path through the village or a 2 min drive, where you will find a lovely beach, rock pools and ice cream!
We had a thoroughly relaxing stay, and there was plenty to keep everyone occupied as the resort is nicely situated between Padstow & St Ives. We hired bikes & trailer and cycled along the Camel Trail, and took the South Coast train from St Ives to Penzance. The scenery was amazing, although Penzance was easy to forget, and St Ives has some lovely restaurants when you get back from your coastal exploring. We will be planning a return visit when we go back to Cornwall.
