My Experience of the Hestra Fjellvott Junior Kids Mittens:
These are excellent mitts. They are a great build quality with clear attention to detail and manufacturing as you’d expect from a company like Hestra. We live in the North Pennines and have a somewhat Arctic climate. Never has our son complained about having cold hands whilst wearing these. The ability to remove the inners is excellent for both cleaning and drying purposes. The elastic attachment means that they are harder to lose whilst also providing a convenient hanging point to hang up the mitts on a coat peg. They have almost no signs of wear and look to be excellent value for money both in terms of warmth and longevity.
The inners attach to the outers with velrco. This velrco also attaches to the wool part of the gloves which is a bit annoying but nothing more than that.
Our son has also just worn the inner wool gloves on their own at times. I would definitely recommend these and I’m sure they would be great to be used when skiing.
We have two sons, they are 3 and 1 and have both worn these gloves (we have the size 2-3 years ones). I would say they are an average fit and to go for the size that corresponds to the age of your child. There is space to wear a liner glove underneath if needed.
