David Tennant to star in BBC1 animated Christmas special The Highway Rat.

Look out for the beautiful new animation of The Highway Rat on TV this Christmas on BBC1 at 4.45pm on Christmas Day.

He’ll be joining Rob Brydon and Tom Hollander in the adaptation of the hit kid’s book

Based on the much loved children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. The Highway Rat tells the tale of a greedy rat who tyrannises animals along the highway, as he steals their food at every opportunity: clover from a rabbit, nuts from a squirrel, a leaf from some ants – he even steals his own horse’s hay. However what he really craves are cakes and all things sugary, and it’s his sweet tooth that finally leads him to a sticky outcome. From Magic Light Pictures, producers of the hugely successful The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Room on the Broom and Stick Man films.
