Tonight, I took my nine year old son to see Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which is on at the Winter Gardens Blackpool until Saturday 30th July and is part of the U.K. wide tour.

The musical is based on the biblical story of Joseph, an Old Testament story about jealousy and betrayal by his brothers, which leads to Joseph being sold into slavery.

The show was simply incredible, an eclectic mix of colour, laughter and music all rolled into one, you couldn’t help but sing and clap along and party with the cast at the end!

The wow factor I felt when I saw this show as a child came flooding back and looking around the audience this timeless musical is clearly still having the same effect on audiences as it did when I first saw it 30 years ago.

A dazzling show that you never want to end, my son obviously felt the same way from the beaming smile he had on his face!

The acting was superb and we were captivated, whether we were clapping along with actors, feeling empathy for their situation (my son looked genuinely perplexed when Joseph was in his prison cell) or cheering loudly when the pharaoh (Jason Donovan) came on stage.

It was the children in the show who really brought the show to life, their enthusiasm and love of the show really did shine through.

The costumes and set were perfect, just as I had remembered them, the scene changes were seamless and left us sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for another explosion of colour!

With the original lyrics and composition by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice the orchestra created an all encompassing and engaging show that had the audience on their feet singing and partying along!

Running at The Winter Gardens until Sat 30th July 2022 this show will fill your heart with warmth and I would thoroughly recommend it for adults and children of age 4 upwards!
