Packing for Africa with three little girls was tricky. I’ve written a whole post about what we packed and how tricky it was, but one of the things I stressed about the most was shoes and sandals.
I’ve written about shoes and sandals before! I wrote about it when we went to Disney, as if you are asking your kids to run around for 8-12 hours a day doing things they’ve not done before, you need to know they have comfy shoes on. I already knew I was going to take with me their trainers as we love them, but I didn’t think their crocs that we’ve used in the past for holidays would be up to the challenge.
Thankfully we were contacted by Keen a couple of months before our trip and they told me about their new Moxie sandals for girls. According to the spiel they have been “developed for little ladies with tenacious temperaments and seriously sassy style”. They sounded like they suited my Mini Travellers to a tee so we decided to try them out. Priced at £34.99 they come in five colours and they are made for adventure. They are incredibly durable, wash well (I can confirm) and more than anything have not caused a single blister all trip!
They danced in them:
They played rugby in them:
They wandered about places in them and wore them with pretty dresses:
They canoed in them (they dried out overnight):
The blurb on the Keen website talks about:
– *Cleansport NXT™ for natural odor control
– Breathable jersey lining
– Hook and loop strap over instep
– Metatomical EVA footbed
– Non-marking rubber outsole
– Secure fit lace capture system
– Soft microfiber overlays
– Washable polyester webbing upper
Which I’m not sure I understand (save for the washable bit) but basically I think they are really good, really good value for money and totally recommended! We will be getting these in the next size up without a doubt!
Travel Tip: Buy them!

These look great. I wish they did them in adult sizes.
