This summer we stayed in Villa Astoria a 5-bedroom property in the popular Ai Helis, Livathos region of Kefalonia. It was new to the rental market in 2022 so didn’t have many reviews but with a beautiful website and great communication from the owner we decided to give it a go. So what did we think of our villa in Kefalonia Villa Astoria?
Location of Kefalonia Villa Astoria
With a stunning view of the sea and mountains the location of Villa Astoria high above the beach of Ai Helis is spectacular.
It’s a ten minute short walk to Ai Helis beach, with other superb beaches within easy reach. Ai Helis beach is gorgeous and we loved popping down there for a morning swim even if we were heading further afield.
Inside Villa Astoria
Villa Astoria is stunning and has clearly undergone a refurbishment in the last year or so. Everything is beautifully done, very clean and incredibly spacious.
The kitchen is incredibly well appointed, and has everything you need including two large fridges. There are great photos on the website so do check it out.
3000 sq. ft across four flours means that you never feel like you’re living on top of everyone even when there are 10 people in the house like we had. 5 “air-conditioned” double bedrooms, three of which can be configured as either twins (two singles) or doubles, and all providing good storage space. Hairdryers are provided in each bedroom. There are three bathrooms on separate floors all equipped with showers/basin/toilet, the master bedroom which takes up the whole top floor with outside balcony too is en-suite.
Grounds of Villa Astoria
Villa Astoria is set within a third of an acre of its own private grounds which is fabulous for active kids and their parents. During our week at Villa Astoria we utilised the garden space for football, basketball, smite, smite golf and blingo ball. We’d taken the latter three games with us.
The gardens are also full of fruit including orange, pomegranate and apple, and the most fabulous fig tree which makes for perfect greek breakfasts.
Pool at Villa Astoria
Villa Astoria has a private pool with sun loungers, tables and umbrellas. Whether this pool works for you will depend on the age of your kids, or how you use a pool on holiday. The pool was smaller than I’d like on holiday as I like to swim lengths in a pool and the kids like to play games. At 9m x 3m it’s more of a cooling down/playing pool than a swimming sized pool, although we definitely appreciated having our own pool in the heat of the day.
The outlook from Villa Astoria
A stunning sea view from the patio and the balcony, which although slightly misses out on a sunset ,is a gorgeous place to sit with a glass of wine and take in the view.
