We’ve got a fantastic selection of books this month whether you’re looking for ways to entertain young readers at home or on holiday. Who’s Hiding at the Seaside by Katharine McEwen (Nosy Crow)

With over 20 little flaps and full of all kinds of sea creatures to discover, this beautiful book has been a big hit in my house. It’s been perfect to read with my 2 year old ahead of our holiday to the coast.

I Really Want To Win by Simon Philip & Lucia Gaggiotti (Templar Publishing)

The little girl in this story is desperate to win a medal and a trophy. But when events don’t quite go to plan, she finds herself learning an unexpected lesson.

With plenty of humour, a great message and lovely bright artwork, my 4 year old has really enjoyed reading this.

 

 

5-8 years

 The Adventures of Harry Stevenson by Ali Pye (Simon & Schuster)

Harry Stevenson might seem like an ordinary guinea pig, (who loves to eat and sleep, and eat some more), but somehow he always ends up on extraordinary adventures. With plenty of humour and illustrations throughout, this is an entertaining story for young readers.

No Ballet Shoes In Syria by Catherine Bruton (Nosy Crow)

Eleven year old Aya, her mum, and baby brother arrive in the UK seeking asylum from war in Syria. When Aya stumbles across a ballet lesson, the teacher recognises her talent but she may not be allowed to remain in the country long enough to fulfil it. This is a beautiful, powerful story and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
