As a couple who love big adventures, we’re delighted to have received the latest Osprey POCO LT child carrier to review – walks up beautiful North Wales mountains are back!

The newborn stage was never a problem for us, we could walk wherever we wanted with our baby strapped to our front in a sling. But as that baby reached one/two years of age, we found the sling was no longer an option and walks with a pram can’t compete with the rush you get climbing a mountain for that spectacular view from the top.

The Osprey POCO LT child carrier offers a great solution for a child who likes to walk part of the way but can then be carried up steep inclines or when little legs get tired. The deluxe child cockpit made for a comfy method of travel. Our child really enjoyed being up high and able to see over dads shoulders at the adventure ahead. With the harness and hip belt, we were confident our toddler was safe and secure, and we love that Osprey have included a sunshade with UPF 50 rating. It’s great to know he is safe from UV rays when we will be making up for lost adventures this summer.

Our toddler is almost three and 14kg, so my husband was delighted to hear that this is Ospreys lightest carrier yet. Its anti-gravity suspended system balances the load and the cushioned straps ensure comfort on the shoulders and around the waist. Whilst being one of the lighter carriers, it also has a smaller pack size. As a family that takes our dog everywhere with us, this is especially important knowing both easily fit in the boot of the car.

Unable to carry a backpack along with a carrier, we found the lower zippered compartment especially useful for necessities which are easily accessible at any point along our walk. It also has an external hydration sleeve which will be especially handy for longer walks in the summer.

For a reasonably priced lightweight carrier suitable for a toddler and baby once he reaches six months old, this is easily the best option for us.
