I was recently sent a Pacapod Lite Idaho changing bag to test and review.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect, having always chosen to use ‘normal’ bags rather than a specific changing bag. On its arrival, I was very happy to see that it’s very much a classic, ‘go with anything’ style, rather than being anything too babyfied! The design also scored a big thumbs up with my husband!
The bag itself is very spacious. I’ve not struggled at all to fit a days worth of stuff in for my new baby, as well as for his two older brothers and all of the random stuff they need to be able to get through the day (at the moment, this includes but is not limited to… an ipad mini, three toy cars, the card game Uno, a tub of playdough, six toy soldiers, a stegosaurus and a wooden carrot… I’m sure plenty of you can relate!!)
This is where the genius of the Pacapod begins… all of that stuff is in the bag. But, by having baby’s changing things stored in the separate bag inside, I don’t need to waste time sorting through everything to track down the packet of wipes at times of nappy emergency! It’s so simple, but oh so effective. By using the two smaller bags to store baby’s things, and keeping my phone, keys etc in the other pockets, the main bulk of the bag is free for my boys to store their things without making it difficult to find anything.
The bag also comes with a foldable changing mat and two hooks to clip onto pram handles. As soon as we took the bag out of its package, you could tell that it was well made and after using it every day for the past month, I definitely still stick to that view. One thing we did notice when we first used it was that the leather strap was quite stiff on your shoulder but that has softened very nicely with use.
I’m very happy with the bag, and will probably continue to use it for days out even after I stop having to carry nappies as I like the design and the attention to detail with all of the little pockets. A few people have asked at playgroups etc where the bag was from, so it’s definitely caught people’s eye when we’ve been using it!
