Little miss and I were invited to watch Peppa Pig’s Adventure, a live stage show, when it came to the Lowry, Manchester, on the 15th and 16th August, and we jumped at the chance to go and see it. My daughter is 3, very nearly 4, and a huge Peppa Pig fan. I have been watching the cartoons on and off for 7 years now, since my eldest was a toddler, and I reckon I could select the show as my specialist subject if I ever got invited on Mastermind!

The show is refreshingly different to the cartoon and a completely new story. A new character, Daisy, is also joined by one we hadn’t met before, Gerald Giraffe. It’s hugely exciting for the children to see their favourite characters, Peppa, George, Mummy and Daddy Pig, Madame Gazelle, Pedro Pony and Suzy Sheep in ‘real life!’ Together the characters embark on a camping trip in the woods. During the night it begins to rain and the excited campers look forward to muddy puddles in the morning.

There are a number of very catchy new songs and most of the children (and adults) in the audience sang along, danced and joined in with clapping and cheering throughout the show. My daughter was thrilled that the Bing Bong song featured on a couple of occasions too.

The scenery was bright and bold exactly like the colours in the cartoon. The main characters all said their well-known catch phrases and the whole show was completely mesmerising for the children in the audience.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth a trip out to see, in our opinion it’s a resounding yes! We’d definitely go and see it again. The ticket prices are very reasonable but there is a fair amount of merchandise around, which your little one may find very enticing, so be prepared for that! Whilst the show has finished at the Lowry there are a huge number of other shows around the country over the next few months. Find out more at http://www.peppapiglive.com/tour.php
