A campervan holiday is a fun and exciting way of getting away from life’s daily hustle and bustle. It’s also a great way to reconnect and spend time with your loved ones. You might be experienced or new to van life. Whichever is the case, it’s different when you’re with the family from when you’re on your own. But a trip doesn’t have to be stressful. Here are some tips that you can use as guides to make your family campervan trip the best you can have.

  1. Choose A Destination Or Campsite

The trip’s destination deserves much consideration because your family’s enjoyment will depend on it. There are many camping locations, but not all are worth visiting in certain circumstances. Older children might appreciate the campsites you like, but younger ones are tricky. The grounds must be kid-friendly or family-friendly if you’re taking young children along. That means they provide a safe environment for everyone and offer opportunities to be in nature.

  1. Buy Or Hire The Right Campervan

To make your trip worthwhile, you’d do well to research a rental company and a motorhome that best fits your needs and your family’s. In case you don’t own a campervan, rental companies all over allow customers to book and pick up the vehicle. At the same time, if you plan to buy a motorhome, you can search online for legitimate sites similar to motorhomesforsale.co.nz

The campervan you want would have critical features such as a permanent double bed. The size of the campervan is also crucial, depending on the headcount. Choose a rental company that offers a variety of campervans suitable for the number of travellers. Companies will also access other campervan owners advertising their vehicles for rent.

It’s also worth noting to check the rules on the car seat when travelling with young children. You want the campervan to have safety features and measures for kids’ safety. In this case, look for campervans that have ISOFIX. It is the international standard that pertains to the settings or fittings for a child car seat. The manufacturers are also responsible for equipping the campervan with the specific feature. It allows parents to connect an ISOFIX child seat to the ISOFIX feature of the campervan.

  1. Pack Appropriate Clothing

When choosing the date of departure, you’d want to ensure that the weather will be pleasant. While nobody can control whether or not the day will turn all sunny, proper planning can turn your trip into a success. You’ll be able to properly pack the essentials that depend on the weather, such as clothing.

When you’re traveling with your family, minimalism doesn’t apply to the trip. It’s crucial to pack the necessities such as clothing. Children love to play and explore, making their clothing prone to staining due to dirt and sweating. Choose clothes made of quick-drying fabric, lightweight (during the summer), and moisture-wicking.

Here are essential clothes that you should bring along during the trip:

  • T-shirts
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Pants
  • Shorts
  • Jacket (waterproof)
  • Pyjamas
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • Swimsuit
  • Sandals
  • Hiking boots
  • Rubber boots
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses

Feel free to add to the list what you think is necessary in your case.

  1. Don’t Forget The Toiletries

Most campsites have shower facilities. This is great when you have kids in tow. They must practice good hygiene even away from home. Before going, pack their toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, antibacterial wipes, diapers (if you have an infant), towels, toilet paper, and hairbrush.

  1. Select Healthy Food And Treats

Depending on your destination, Campervan trips can be stressful when with cranky children. But you can remedy that with substantial meals and snacks on hand to alleviate the tantrums. You can include crackerbreads, crisps, biscuits, cereal bars, and sweets.

Since your typical campervan would have a stove, you can cook something that doesn’t have to take too long, such as pasta. Bring jars of sauces such as pesto or meat sauce favourites. Breakfasts can be as easy as bringing milk, cereal, bacon, eggs, tins of soup, bread, jam, and marmalade. You can also find easy campfire recipes for a change of pace.

Since fridge items were mentioned, choosing a campervan with a refrigerator will give you more food options. Some campervans are equipped with as much as 42L capacity. You can chill milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, and prepared meals.

  1. Check For Health Conditions Before Leaving

An important measure to ensure that the whole family is safe to go on a trip is to visit the paediatrician for the children. The adults could get themselves checked with a physician or specialist if they suffer from specific conditions. It helps to minimize the risks while you’re on the road and away from hospitals or clinics.

Be sure to pack a basic first aid kit and medications. It’s worth having over-the-counter medicines if you get sick during the trip. It would help if you had a dedicated container for adhesive plasters, bandages, and tools such as scissors, tweezers, and thermometers.

Aside from personal medicines, bring along cough and flu medication, disinfectants, antiseptic cream, diarrhoea medication, and an insect bite cream.

In Conclusion

If you loved campervan as an individual, you can share that love with your family and open them to a world of fantastic destinations. Organizing and planning for a campervan holiday may take a lot of work. But planning for the family’s needs can make the trip work with minimal mistakes.
