This luxury light kids down jacket is made of water-repellent, windproof and breathable material. It is shaped to fit and packs down into an incredibly small bag.
Before Reima asked if we would like to review these kids down jackets I had decided that the kids (and me to be honest) didn’t really need anymore outerwear. One of the things about running a travel blog where my kids are outdoors a lot is that we get asked to review a lot of coats. However now these coats by Reima have arrived I am going to wonder how we ever coped with Autumn without them.
They are that in the middle coat that we often don’t have. It isn’t just a thin raincoat that we usually need in the Summer, and it isn’t a thick winter coat that can be used when the rain is lashing down and it threatens to snow – but it is a coat that we can and have used to throw in the rucksack when we are heading out for Autumn walks and is the perfect thickness for needing an extra layer.
To be honest that undersells it a little as the technical details for the Reima down jacket suggest this can be worn down to -10, due to the down feather insulation, however given the British weather and the fact that this is water resistant not waterproof means its unlikely to make it as our winter coat of choice, or a school run coat at that time of year.
What the down jacket is going to be though is the coat that we take on our next trip to Italy at October half term. We’ve no idea what the weather is going to be like that week. It could be wall to wall sunshine but it could also be significantly colder than we would prefer. As these kids down jackets literally pack down to a really small bag (see below), they are going to be perfect for travelling and carrying about until they are needed, the bane of many parents existence on days out.
I also love the fact that it’s a lightweight jacket with a hood. I’m not a huge fan of kids jackets without hoods as particularly in the UK you never know when the weather might turn!
Reima itself is a Finnish brand that’s long been popular in Scandinavia and eastern Europe but is now growing in appeal over here. I can see why as the original designs and pretty patterns combined with hardy technical credentials are impressive.
