Over half term we popped into Liverpool for a little bit of shopping and some lunch as we had been invited to review Honest Burgers on Bold Street in Liverpool.
On the way in my eldest, who isn’t overly fond of burgers asked whether she would have to have a burger or whether she would be able to have something else. I hadn’t actually looked at the menu before we left so glibly replied that I was sure they’d sell other things to. I was wrong.
Honest Burgers sells burgers. It does exactly what it says on the tin. In fact it doesn’t even do starters or desserts, it just sells burgers. Part of me was quite put out by that, but on reflection it was great. It was quick to choose, the service was quick, the burgers were great and we were in and out within perhaps 40 minutes.
Location of Honest Burgers in Liverpool
The Honest Burgers restaurant in Liverpool is on Bold Street. It is basic yet but fun. Industrial in feel with booths and tables depending on your liking. The set out can feel a little cosy at times and I was worried Izzy was going to hit the man set next to us on a number of occasions but we seemed to avoid incident.

Kids Menu at Honest Burgers
The kids menu has three choices on it. Beef Burger, Chicken Burger and Vege Burger all with or without toppings. For £5.50 the children’s menu comes with chips and a juice drink too which is good value. We made a slight error on the chips not realising that salted chips means rosemary salted chips as these weren’t a hit with the kids – too many green bits – albeit there are signs around the restaurant talking about rosemary salt I just hadn’t picked that up.
The kids got crayons and pictures to colour in whilst they waited although to be fair, that wasn’t very long at all.
The twins declared their beef burgers the best they’d ever had and ate every morsel and the eldest ate every bite of her chicken burger too, which was actually a piece of chicken. Not breaded, not coated at all in fact, just a piece of good chicken on a bun.
Food Menu at Honest Burgers
The burger menu with prices that start at £8.75 includes mainly beef options but a chicken and a couple of vege options are available too. There is also a local option – the Liverpool Burger which I just had to try.
The burgers are all served pink unless you ask for them to be otherwise, and all served with chunky rosemary salted chips. I tried the white cabbage, kholrabi, carrot and pumpkin seed slaw which I was advised people seem to love or hate. I actually fell somewhere in the middle but didn’t love it enough to eat that in favour of my burger which was fabulous.
My Liverpool Burger with Sriracha Mayo, spring onion, British halloumi, hafla hafla, BEEF obviously, and lettuce all in a bun was divine. The right side of spicy although to be fair I couldn’t taste the halloumi so obviously.
I did enjoy my rosemary salted chips but understood why the kids didn’t, they do serve plain chips with ordinary salt, just ask.
I also really liked the soft drink selection for both adults and kids. Funky fun old fashioned drinks bottles with great flavours too. My three all had strawberry and apple juice in canteen style mugs.
All in all we had great burgers at Honest Burgers in Liverpool. Great ingredients, great service, great all round experience.
If you want a good burger then it does exactly what it says on the tin.
This sounds like a really good place to go.
