Sharing is caring!

Last year I wrote about how much we loved the girls Keen sandals when we went to Rwanda, you can see how much the kids used them in our review of the Moxie Sandals and I vowed at the end of the post that we would get them in the next size up for this years Malawi trip and we did!

Packing for Africa with three little girls can be tricky.  Two of them at least want to wear pretty dresses but they also need to wear suitable and comfortable footwear. If their feet hurt it’s going to stop them adventuring, and we know from experience that we need them to be able to adapt to scenarios quite quickly when travelling around Africa. At one point you might be in a nice boat looking at animals on the river, but in the next moment you might be in the back of a truck off down some bumpy roads to plant trees in the local community. The shoes you have with you need to suit all sorts of scenarios and that’s why I love the Keen sandals.

Last year we tried out their new Moxie sandals for girls, and this year we tried out the Newport Sandals.  To be perfectly honest I can’t see a huge difference between them.  They are both incredibly supportive shoes, equally as good in the water and out of it. Dry quickly and easily, wash well when you’re home and are easy for them to put on and take off with a hook and loop strap.

According to the spiel “This supportive sandal can take anything a kid can dish out” and I heartily agree with the statement.

Priced at £34.99 they come in fourteen colours and perfect for adventure. They wore them practically every day on our Malawi trip and having got home, I’ve washed them and they look good as new and will be ready and waiting for our trip to Turkey at May half term!

They went on Safari in them!

The blurb on the Keen website talks about:

  • Hook and loop strap over instep
  • PFC-Free materials
  • Secure fit lace capture system
  • Washable polyester webbing upper
  • Non-marking rubber outsole
  • Hydrophobic mesh lining
  • Metatomical EVA insoles
  • METATOMICAL FOOTBED DESIGN
This internal support mechanism is anatomically engineered to provide excellent arch support and cradle the natural contours of the foot.

Which I’m not sure I understand (save for the washable bit) but basically I think they are really good, really good value for money and totally recommended!
