Have you ever had a bad night’s sleep while camping? We have.

There’s nothing worse than being away in a beautiful nature spot, with time off work and the family all together, to wake up every day feeling shattered. Like the rest of the nation, our family has just splashed out on camping gear for a post covid-restriction holiday.

UPDATED with the bunk bed link too!

Having had some terrible night’s sleep in a tent in the past, we made a decision – an investment in good sleeping gear would pay dividends. So, we got a brilliant self-inflating mat (no more waking up on the floor, or rolling into hubby thank you!). And we got the extremely cosy Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag.

Here are my bugbears with sleeping bags. Number 1, they feel synthetic and shiny and not at all comfortable. And number 2, they are so pokey that you end up feeling like a magician in a strait-jacket, trying to fight your way out.

What’s lovely about the Night Owl 3-in-1 is that you have neither of these problems. It really does feel like a duvet (like they promise), and it’s really spacious. What’s more, this sleeping bag is a 7.0 tog 3 season bag, meaning that it can be used spring, summer and autumn. We’ve not tested it in a tent yet, but we had a brilliant night’s sleep in it in our house.

On top of these two great selling points, it’s also really versatile. It can be used either as a double sleeping bag so you can snuggle up with your other half, or else you can separate the two halves and make it into two separate sleeping bags, for when you fall out after burning the bacon on the camping stove!

We love it, and would heartily recommend it. The only drawback for us is that it’s carrybag doesn’t have compression straps, so it takes up a bit more room than it needs to in the car. That being said, it’s bag is very spacious, so you don’t have to have that fight to stuff it in that leaves you needing a lie down (we’ve all been there). Of course, it would be easy and cheap enough to buy some makeshift straps if that’s important to you.

The Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag costs £95, so it’s not the cheapest sleeping bag out there, but if you are looking for a good quality, comfortable and eco-friendly sleeping bag then look no further. The sleeping bag is hypoallergenic and machine washable and if you still need persuading, then knowing that the filling is made from polyester from recycled PET bottles should seal the deal – these green credentials are pretty amazing.

So all in all, we’re really pleased. Here’s to many good nights’ sleep in the great outdoors. The Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag is available from The Fine Bedding Company.
