The night before our trip to Greece with Simpson Travel we stayed overnight at the Sofitel at London Heathrow.  Since we have had the girls we have never travelled to London (4 hours away) preferring to fly from Manchester or Liverpool. However a brief discussion with the team at Simpsons and I was persuaded to fly from Heathrow with British Airways and due to the very early flight out to Corfu, to stay overnight at the Sofitel.  The team can organise all the holiday extras you need for you and there is nowhere more convenient to stay if flying from Terminal 5 than the Sofitel as it is literally connected by a walkway.

Just love this video of the girls they really do love their bags! @sambroUK @stberts #simpsonholiday

We travelled down to Heathrow on Saturday (thankfully avoiding weekday traffic) and checked into the hotel at about 5pm.  It’s spotless, check in was seamless and we made our way to our rooms.  We had two rooms (opposite each other as there wasn’t any interconnecting rooms left) and whilst the girls spent a good half hour calling each other from the telephones in the rooms and generally being very excited, we sorted out the bags for the morning.

As we made our way downstairs to find somewhere to eat, I got a real sense of luxury, despite the rooms being only £130 each.  My only concern was that we wouldn’t find anywhere relaxed enough for us to eat with the kids. I needn’t have worried as whilst there are luxury options that serve lots of champagne, there is also a lovely bustling restaurant Vivre which has a decent sized kids menu too.

The staff at Vivre were lovely with the kids and we ordered them a large Pizza to share. My own pizza was really good but hubby’s tandori chicken stole the show.

Vivre gave out kids packs too which as you can see the kids were delighted with.

We even managed to sneak into the Champagne Bar and have a couple of cocktails. It was quiet but even if it hadn’t have been the staff were very welcoming and the kids would have been fine.

We had a great nights sleep at the Sofitel, the beds were comfy, the showers excellent (well needed at 5am) and the ease of wandering over to the airport made for a very relaxed start to our family holiday.

Genuinely highly recommended and something we will definitely do again!

NB: We did not stay at the Sofitel as their guests and have not been asked to write this review, we just really enjoyed our stay!

  1. Sofitel is great isn’t it – we stayed at the Gatwick one before a horrendously early flight although my daughter was still in a cot so it was minibar in a darkened room rather than champagne for me that time. Made life SO much easier.
