If you live in or around Liverpool and wondering which grotto to take the kids to this Christmas you should definitely consider St George’s Hall.

Storytime with Santa, within the Heritage Centre, which is centrally located just opposite the bus station and Lime Street station. The magic starts as you enter St George’s Hall. The kids  summed this up and said ‘this is definitely the sort of place Santa should come and visit Mummy’ presumably not like the back room of a garden centre or the school hall??

Story time with Santa is a brand new concept that will be running in St George’s Hall this year from Saturday, November 19 to Saturday December 24.

It will combine an interactive family show with a trip to the Grotto to see Father Christmas and his Elf.  The children will meet Santa, tell him what they would like, have the opportunity to have their photo taken and then Santa will read stories.  Each child will also get a gift (which we think are all books – although we don’t KNOW that, only Santa knows!).

Tickets are £11 per child with up for two parents free per child ticket. Tickets can be booked online on the TicketQuarter website here or at the TicketQuarter in Queen Square.

Story Time with Santa producer Saul Murphy said: “Christmas is such a special time for families and we wanted to bring an experience for the whole family whilst also engaging children in their imagination and creativity.

“Reading is a fun family activity that should be promoted and encouraged, it’s a past time that helps with every child’s development and can bring a family closer together.”

NB: We were invited to attend St Georges Hall today but all views as always are our own.

  1. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I’m so excited this year and Tin Box Tot is already asking about meeting Father Christmas. St Georges Hall looks lovely and not bad value for money considering the experience before you meet the big man.

  3. This looks fantastic. I love the effort they have gone to and that they encourage the children to write their list to Santa before going to see him. Also, it is so important to have a friendly Santa. Little Miss H was petrified when we took her to a grotto last year. So a cheerful and kind Father Christmas makes a huge difference. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
