Can you swap the daily commute for a week in the sun and if you can how much would it cost?
NB: This is a collaborative post with Love Holidays
Perhaps at this time of year more than any other our thoughts turn to warm seas and blue skies and cocktails. If you’re making the daily commute across London, one of the most expensive cities in the world with its high cost of living and commuting, you might want to take a look at leading online travel agency loveholidays who have created an interactive tube map. The interactive tube map highlights some of the holiday destinations that can be enjoyed in exchange for a week of rent and tube travel in the UK’s capital!
All you do is enter a daily commute on the holiday finder tube map and follow the track and mind the gap to discover some of the destinations that an average week of rent and travel can take you to. To be honest I found this a little addictive and I can see how you could lose a few minutes to playing around with the tube map, and actually also seeing where else you might live to afford better holidays!
I tried putting in Balham with a daily commute of Canary Wharf and it told me I was spending £33 a week and £322 on the cost of living. It then told me for less than £300pp I could head out to Turkey or Crete or Majorca! I do love a trip to Greece with its stunning sunsets and red skies at night!
Residents of Barking can swap the commute to Barbican for a week on an all inclusive holiday on the beaches of Crete. Or switch a week on the tube from Clapham South to Canary Wharf for an all-inclusive holiday enjoying the beaches of Kos.
The loveholidays website makes it easy for customers to find and book their ideal holiday using their bespoke search function that allows them to search using terms such as weather, board basis and budget rather than being restricted by a date and destination.
Jonny Marsh of loveholidays said, “We recognise how expensive it is to live and work in London, but everyone deserves a holiday away from the daily grind and this fun interactive tube map shows some of the destinations that can be easily reached based on average weekly rent and tube fares across the capital city.”
The interactive tube map can be found here: https://www.loveholidays.com/tube-off/
Why not have a go and have some fun! You can even play about with this on the tube now they’ve added the wifi in!
