Last weekend we were invited to go and explore ‘the worlds’ first living colouring book’ in London, courtesy of Preschool TV channel Cartoonito. An offer we couldn’t refuse!
Turing the real world into a canvas, the one-off pop up allowed both children and grown-ups to get creative and transform the black and white line drawn ‘clubhouse’ into a masterpiece all of their own! Home to a host of family-favourite shows, from Fireman Sam to Bob the Builder and Masha and the Bear, we spent the afternoon surrounded by familiar faces as we allowed the kids to colour on walls, the floor, furniture and a particular highlight; colouring in our very own family portrait!
We also got to meet some ‘real life’ characters including the larger than life versions of Bob and Fireman Sam but our absolute favourite was the Fat Controller who entertained us with lots of stories of the Island of Sodor and all the really useful engines! My little boy was particularly keen to find out where Thomas was at the Fat Controller was happy to oblige!
The Cartoonito club is an online hub which inspires creativity in children. An engaging resource, children can access activities, games and songs which are all linked to the familiar faces from the Cartoonito Channel. We found this a particularly useful resource on the train as we easily accessed the sites from our iPhone to entertain the toddler on the train journeys to and from London.
We received excellent hospitality from the Cartoonito Club and the children had a whale of a time colouring, having their faces painted and enjoying the cake and snacks! Mummy and Daddy enjoyed spotting all the familiar celebrity faces who had also been invited to the event too!
We left with very excited children who were keen to return to the website to explore once again the characters that they had just met. We also had lots of goodies to explore on the way home. Thanks Cartoonito Club!
Families can access tons of creative activities and resources by visiting the “Cartoonito Club” website: http://www.cartoonito.co.uk/cartoonito-club and enjoy all their favourite shows and characters by tuning in daily to Cartoonito
My kids would love to be able to draw on the walls! They get to test my ideas for my Squidgydoodle craft and party boxes and we do a lot of action art. Like painting with water pistols, fly swat painting, pendulum painting etc. but they’ve never had an opportunity to draw on a wall! I painted murals in orphanages abroad, years ago. There’s something very pleasing about having a huge canvas! I’ll take a look at Cartoonito Club.
What a fabulous idea and so exciting!
