The phrase ‘weirdly wonderful’ is a perfect description for The Lost Carnival.

We had a bit of an idea of what to expect but that idea in my mind did not match reality. The reality was far better.

Upon arrival you go into the Big Top where they set the scene for the Lost Carnival and the rest of your evenings shenanigans. When you are then pointed in the direction of the carnival we were magically surprised by what was waiting for us.

I had had to go straight from work and so I was pleasantly surprised to find food on offer.  I jumped at the first chance I had and bought a GORGEOUS crepe from the first part of the carnival but when we went into the second field I wished I had waited as there was much more substantial food on offer in that field including nachos, pizza etc.

In the first field we witnessed acrobats, and a further show telling the story about The Lost Carnival. The children went to see the Fear Eater which was very entertaining and Freddie believed everything that she told him – it was brilliant. Freddie was amazed by the Bearded Lady and both of them loved the cosmic balls. We made masks and ate some lovely ice creams in the first field.

We then ventured into the second field past the invisible man. The second field had lots more going on including mermaids, coconut shys, hula hoops and more acrobats. There was a fabulous band playing and I could have imagined really getting into it and having a couple of wines soaking up the atmosphere if the children weren’t so tired from school.

I would definitely recommend this weirdly wonderful experience just make sure you wear wellies and embrace the atmosphere!
