How to create a an always packed beach bag

There has been a lot of talk the last couple of months about being ‘beach ready’. It’s even a defined term used for describing someone’s body when they have been preparing it to look good on the beach, especially by exercising or eating less. For me being Beach Ready literally means having all the stuff ready to go to the beach!

So whilst we were in Kalkan over May Half Term I was impressed when we bumped into one of the other families from the Kalkan Regency where we were staying, as they had a bag full of everything you would need for a beach trip. Everything!

The family told me that this was a tip that they’d picked up from another family a couple of years before and now simply keep the bag packed from trip to trip and literally throw it onto the plane as one of their pieces of luggage. When it’s time to go to the beach they literally pick it up and off they go.

I was so impressed that I resolved to create an always packed beach bag myself and take it with us on our next trip to the beach!  We actually live near the beach so this would get quite regular use but even if you don’t and this is an annual event for you, having a bag that’s packed full of all the things you need has added benefits too.

Why a ‘beach ready’ bag is useful

  1. You know where it is all the time.
  2. It’s ready for those last minute decisions.
  3. You can throw it in the car and take it away for the weekend.
  4. You can’t argue about who should have packed what!

So what are we going to pack it all in?

We need something large enough to fit in everything you need, but it needs to be waterproof too and not too formal. It needs to be capable of being thrown about on the plane, and it needs to be squashy and lightweight so carrying it doesn’t become an issue!

I bought this bag from Amazon but to be honest it is a little flimsy and I think I’ll probably have to replace it soon but it is lightweight and wasn’t too expensive.

What are we going to put in our Always Packed Beach Bag?

Wet Suits – We’ve got these fab wet suits from Konfidence, full post to follow!

Swimming Costumes – Our current faves are the Batman ones from Zoggs!

DC Super Heroes Swimwear from Zoggs

Sand Shoes – For the beach, rockpooling, paddling in the sea – you name it. We have these brilliant sandals from Keen.

Sun hats. – Pack loads of them. We always seem to lose one, another ends up in the pool or the sea and another gets nabbed by a sibling, so I shoved as many as I could find into our bag.

Suncream – We’ve tried out a few and reviewed them here. But just pack your fave or perhaps this roll on top up fr0m Solar Buddies!

Talc – Yes talc – it really does help get the sand off your feet! Find out more here!

Snorkel and Goggles – I’ve found that goggles seem to fit better than masks on little ones.

Buckets & Spades – I’ve bought a lot of these over the years and not yet found the best ones!

Beach Towels

Picnic Rug – For us it’s the trusty Rubbastuff Pacamat!

Kite

Frisbee

Inflatable Toys – We love this body board from Zoggs!
