The Sleepyhead Grand

The Sleepyhead Grand is a unique multi-functional stage 2 pod, which makes the Sleepyhead a complete sleep system. It is aimed at children aged 8-36 months (the Sleepyhead Deluxe is also available for babies aged 0-8months). The pod doubles up as a lounger, for sleeping and is fantastic to use whilst travelling. This is the product for those babies/children who love a sense of security of being surrounded and snug.

Review of the Sleepyhead Grand

I reviewed a Sleepyhead Grand with my little boy who is 20 months old.  I knew all about the Sleepyhead, as we had bought the Deluxe version for my boy when he was a baby. We used it until he outgrew it. Of course I had debated getting the Grand for a long time but I didn’t think I could quite justify the £180 price tag.

When I was offered one to review I jumped at the opportunity.

My initial thoughts were how big the pod is! It certainly can’t be moved around the house easily like the Deluxe or used for travelling if you don’t have much space to pack. However it fits in a cot perfectly which really helps to transition babies into a big cot if they’ve got used to a moses basket or co-sleeper initially.

My son took to the pod really well, it cocoons children and helps them to feel secure. It also stops them from rolling in to the side of the cot and waking up.

You might be wondering if the Sleepyhead Grand is safe for supervised sleeping; it has undergone loads of testing and I believe the smaller size was the first of the baby sleeping aids to hit the market.

The Sleepyhead’s fabric cover is soft with an almost corduroy like texture which feels warm and long lasting. The pod has two parts; a mattress base and a bumper. These all zipper out for easy washing.

Good Points:

The Sleepyhead Grand mattress and bumpers are breathable and the pod has been tested for supervised sleeping.

Great to transition to a cot and provides a secure environment for little one.

Available in a variety of modern designs.

Bad Points:

The Sleepyhead Grand is so big that it may not be suitable for travel (however the original bag does have carry handles for this)

Spare covers are £70 each

Overall

We have used the Sleepyhead Grand for a few months and my sons seems to like it, I should have just bought it when he outgrew the Deluxe rather than having a year or so of trying many different things to improve sleep! I would recommend the product and think it would work best when used from a young age to aid the transition.
