We had some time to kill as one often does when leaving accommodation (for us Puy du Fou) and waiting for a flight home so we found ourselves in this pretty little village, ten minutes from Nantes airport, and the villagers have painted and decorated the houses and bars in the town! What a find!
How to get to Trentemoult
By Car
You can get to Trentemoult easily by car and the car parking is free. It’s literally ten minutes drive from Nantes airport which is why we stumbled upon it.
By Ferry
Alternatively you can get to Trentemoult by Ferry called NaviBus.
he boat across the river runs every twenty minutes or so and runs on the same tickets as the tram — the hourly ticket or the day pass.
But why visit Trentemoult?
Trentemoult feels like a little French riverside village with the added advantage of being just a quick ferry hop from Nantes City centre.
There is a lovely promenade with restaurants all along the front of the river, albeit your view back to Nantes is of the shipyards and industrial buildings.
We spent a lovely two hours in Trentemoult though, just wandering around, looking at the colourful buildings, imagining who lived there and then eating pizza for lunch.
It was the perfect short stop on the way to the airport, as it was then only ten minutes (maybe less) to drop the car off and check in.
Basically, it’s perfect for those people who want to get as close to the airport as possible on their return journey home but don’t want to spend the whole time in the actual airport itself.
