So when your husband tells you he’s really pleased he has got a Airbnb booking for your house for Easter, you would probably assume he checked the actual dates of Easter weekend. But no. He had also rented the house out to a Stag party, which did little to help my nerves.

So off we went, to Great Yarmouth for a weekend break,  5 miles away from home!

We were planning to venture slightly further to the Berney Arms, where we had been before, as it was beautiful and had a terrific breakfast, but then my daughter would have missed the social event of the year – Lucas’ and Jack’s party at Jump Warehouse. And God forbid she doesn’t get her own way. We actually came back from Newcastle early last week after Craig’s parents’ 50th wedding anniversary celebrations for a shopping party in Norwich.

So, Great Yarmouth it was, which was a blessing really as the weekend after we were off to Somerset for our family Easter and the kids drain all my data allowance on my iPad on long car journeys, so they become less inspiring.

We fitted in a quick trip to Southwold before heading to our hotel to meet friends on the Friday morning. Great meal in the eclectic fish bar and walk along the beautiful beach with an obligatory ice cream.

We stayed at Willow Tree Lodge Hotel in a lovely family room for five with a brilliant dividing door to shut the little terrors away for some peace. Visited a new eatery on Marine Parade for tea,Hoity Toitys with fabulous decor, friendly staff and kids eat free.

The following day, after a filling fried breakfast, we made our way to the beach to wear out the kids and had lunch Baleal. It might look like it just does takeaway but its the best Pizza I have ever had. And I eat a lot of pizza.

Later we went to Jump Warehouse, for the party of the year, I’m exhausted but kids are still bouncing off the walls and titted in an Easter egg hunt at the Co-op with free cream eggs!

On Sunday we got to do our weekly Junior Park Run at Gorleston Beach before hitting the Hippodrome Circus to see their Easter Pirates Show. Although you may have missed this show, the Summer Spectacular starts soon and we go at least once a year and love it every time. Something for all the family and a great bunch of people who run the Circus.

There is a lot to be said for staying locally – possibly not quite as local as this, but you get to experience your town from a different perspective and do things on your doorstep that you often overlook. I still haven’t quite forgiven my other half for this but the kids thought it was hilarious, and we actually all had a great time!
