We recently took the family back to Winter Wonderland at Event City near the Trafford centre. The kids loved it last year (if you want to read last years’s review just click here) so we decided to go again to see what they had on offer this time around and also to do some of the other things we didn’t have time to do last year.
The fun starts from the moment you walk through the door as bright colours, noise and snow welcome you to the Winter Wonderland. Again, as last year, it was a combination of fair ground rides, live shows and your normal ‘win a teddie’ type of thing. There are also lots of food stalls offering a variety of different sweet and savoury food options. Last year we spent most of the evening going on the rides so on this occasion decided to take in all the shows. The first was a Frozen based show which my little girl especially loved, all the kids walked away with beaming smiles on their faces.. Following this was a Basil Brush show which we also all enjoyed.
The next show was a Jedi training segment which my young lad (aged 7) really enjoyed and the evening closed with a humorous take on Cinderella * a mini panto. The kids really enjoyed the shows and when we asked them they told us they preferred this year’s offering to last.
There is also a circus going on but unfortunately we didn’t manage to catch this. We sampled some of the food and it was okay. A bit on the expensive side but nothing more than you would expect at something like this.
As with last year the audience numbers are limited in each session so the place wasn’t overcrowded and at literally no point did we queue for rides which gives you a really good sense of value for money. There is literally every type of fairground ride you can imagine plus a large selection of bouncy castles, inflatable assault courses and slides.
We had three hours to fit everything in and there is certainly enough to keep everybody entertained. As it finishes at 10pm the kids are ready for bed by the end. The cost is £19.50 for 3 year olds and upwards, under 3’s are free. OAP are £14. A family ticket is £64 and included in the cost are all the shows and rides.
Food is not included and neither are prize winning stalls. There is also an opportunity to go and see Father Christmas which is £3.50 per child if you want to include a gift of the child’s choice (if you don’t it is free!).
Winter Wonderland is a good few hours of family entertainment, worth trying out if you want to do something a bit different before or just after Christmas. There are 2 sessions pretty much every day from the 12th December to the 3rd January. The sessions last for 4 hours and the session times are 11-3.30pm and 4.30-8.30pm although they do vary slightly on a daily basis so it would be wise to check. Also wise to book early as it does get booked up!
NB: Pauline and her family received tickets to enter Winter Wonderland but all views and opinions are their own.

THis looks fun – great that you don’t queue for rides too!
